Introduce Yourself Here

Welcome @ConBu and @jasemichael1976 good to have you both here

Vancouver Island, BC!
I bought this Alexander Leathers jacket a couple of years ago, and haven't worn it too much until this season (As a bike jacket). After doing a little more research into it, I came across this forum which I didn't know existed. I went through the entire "Alexander Leathers" forum thread.......what a shame.
Anyway, wondering if anyone had some suggestions for helping me break the jacket in? It says Steerhide on the tag. Do I need to condition it at all? It is a very heavyweight jacket, and feels even more due to being not broken in. It is finally starting to soften up a little after wearing it more this year, and mold to me.
If I should be asking this in a different forum, don't hesitate to point me in the direction of where best to ask.

Greetings, Iron Heart Forum!
Some of you might remember me from several years ago when I used to be an active member of this vibrant online community. However, life took me on an exciting journey, and I haven't had the opportunity to participate here in quite some time. So, I thought it was about time to reintroduce myself and reconnect with all of you wonderful folks.
Life has been a whirlwind for me since my last post. After the birth of my second child, Remi, life became a delightful blend of chaos and joy. Oh, and there was this thing called Covid. Kinda weird and strange times. To add to the mix, I embarked on a new career journey, securing a tenured professorship in creative writing and literature at Los Angeles City College. I've been there since 2016, but things were finalized just before the pandemic hit. It's been an incredible experience, and I'm passionate about nurturing the next generation of writers, literary enthusiasts, and AI chatbots.
In addition to my professional endeavors, my personal life has also seen significant changes. My lovely wife, who some of you may remember, has transitioned into the role of a doula, supporting expectant mothers on their journey to parenthood. You can learn more about her work on her website: https://www.doulabrandi.com/
Of course, the most important aspect of my life remains my family. My two children, Ruby, now 8, and Remi, who just turned 4, are growing up fast, and being a parent has been a truly rewarding experience.
Recently, I've picked up a new hobby that I'm passionate about—disc golfing. If any of you share this interest, it might be fun to create a dedicated subforum here on the Iron Heart Forum to discuss all things disc golf-related. If such a subforum doesn't already exist, maybe we can start one together!
I'm genuinely excited to be back and look forward to engaging in meaningful conversations with all of you once again. It's been too long, and I can't wait to catch up and share experiences. Feel free to drop me a message or reach out anytime.
Until then, TTFN

Thanks guys for the warm (re)welcome.

Good morning. I am new to the raw denim community. I just purchased my first piece, IHSH-361-BLK. Very excited to work on the fade pattern. Unfortunately, my job requires me to wear a suit and tie, so I will be working overtime to get it. I’m jealous of the guys who get to actually wear it a work wear.
Looking forward to being active in the community.

@ConBu greetings from South Yorkshire, UK!
-
@Deonte1719 welcome to the madness!
-
@Jett129 Thanks, buddy!

@Wlemon what a great welcome back bio! Rad to hear you’re doing so well!! Think I messaged you a couple years ago about a veg tan leather jacket. I’ll give you tender time to work through the backlog of messages you surely have, but I’ll expect a thorough response to an otherwise humdrum question about patina and fades and the like.

@Mizmazzle Always excited to talk about leather fading.
-
@Wlemon good to have you back, man!

Hi all,
thanks for creating the awesome place this forum is.
My name is Dominik, I'm 35 years old and live in Bavaria, Germany. I am into Denim and this kind of clothing since quite some time but discovered Iron Heart not too long ago.
Besides Denim I am also really into leather- and wood working.
