IHM-37-BLK - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Black
-
@Karol Hi, I hope you don’t mind me having a go at answering your question? I’m guessing the paraffin coating that IH use is rather different but I’ve re-waterproofed a few wax cotton Barbour and Belstaff jackets in the past and I’m guessing the process for re-applying a coating a few years down the line would be roughly the same? @AdamJ
I started by letting the tin of Barbour wax sit in a bowl of warm water for ten minutes or so to warm it up and turn it into a liquid. Then apply it to the clean jacket with a soft cloth, taking extra time to apply more in the seams, high wear areas and any extra dry areas where the coating has worn the most. Then use a hairdryer to run any excess wax into the seams etc.. leave to dry a day or two then repeat if needed. I hope that helps!

@Karol unless you live in the Arctic you will not wear this enough to get much stains on it!

It is ~815km to the arctic circle from Stockholm and I declare UHF season open with recent temperature of 1C ~ 34F. Im ready for this jacket from the middle of the week

Wish the sleeve length wasn't so long.

@Karol I see… I’m sure the IH crew can enlighten us on the differences, if any

I have the latest size S in 190z left hand twill type 3 which fits perfectly. Would a size S in this jacket be suitable too? I know to check the measurements but not sure what to account for when considering this has a thick lining.

Hey Guys. Not jumpin on this as I've already got too many Winter Jackets including another N1 unfortunately, with my work as a Mountain Guide. My main reason for posting is I see a few posts regarding re-waxing.
I've re-waxed many Jackets and Rucksacks etc, over the Years including my other Whipcord N1 and a couple of Heavy Carhartt Bartlett's during my Years in Guiding and I would suggest that a much better way to re-wax than Liquid Belstaff or Barbour is to use the Block Wax by either Fjallraven or Otter Wax. Rub this on by hand until well coated and then melt in with a Heat Gun. 2 Coats will be a plenty which will take a couple of hours max and the finished result will be better than the original in every way. I guarantee you! It's fantastic, easy to do and will provide an improved appearance and performance, even from new!! Best of luck Waxer's. Remember, "Wax On, Wax Off" Or in this case, "Wax On, Wax In"
