@WhiskeySandwich Well Happy B. Day. How was the E.H.Taylor? I’ve never had that one.
-
@Jett129 thanks! It was bus bussin, no cap lol
-
isn't it lovely @Twistlock ?

Cranberry Imperial Sour
-
@pechelman, not yet, for whatever reason stayed away from overproofs. Will give it a try.
-
It's not really a sipping rum because of it being over proof, though it doesn't taste as hot to me as it should for 69% so be careful if you do @Twistlock . It does however make fantastic cocktails and one of my favorite daiquiris when split ~2:1 as the base using a Jamaican rum. Eg.
1oz Hampden rum
.5oz OFTD
.75-1oz fresh lime juice (depending on the lime)
.5oz 2:1 Demerara syrup
1 drop 30% saline (optional)Shake hard with ice, strain into a chilled coupe, no garnish
There's a joke that OFTD doesn't stand for old fashioned traditional dark but rather "Oh fu*k that's delicious".
-
@pechelman @Twistlock can't go wrong with OFTD and a good cola plus lime juice, so basically what is known as Cuba Libre in Germany. We like the Aqua Monaco coke: https://aquamonaco.com/product/cola/

This has been on my radar for a while but I haven’t seen it for sale locally. Once I finally found it I was a little apprehensive due to the 4 year being a bit low for a cask strength rye. One sip though and it put that to rest, this is excellent.
-
@WhiskeySandwich I was finally able to track down a bottle, myself, this season, and really enjoyed it. Some of their older bottles go for a lot of money.
-
@Jett129 Oh wow, that one's up there. I'll bet it's fantastic at 9 years. The bottling I had was already surprisingly smooth for a young cask strength rye. That 9 year is super high proof though and that's a way out of my spending range.
-
@WhiskeySandwich I’m with you ,as bottles like that are way out of my league. They have some triple digit bourbons as well, that I’m also very unlikely to try.
-
That’s an interesting idea. Love TLW. It’s become quite hard to find Chartreuse in the states though.
-
Not that it helps sourcing any better, but one of my favorite last word riffs is the naked and famous;
Equal parts, lime juice, aperol, mezcal, and yellow chartruese. Honestly I like this better than the original as I find the maraschino in that high of a proportion to still be a little sickly to my taste.
In a pinch, subbing benedictine or genepy for the chartreuse would be OK.
Favorite last word riff?
Industry Sour; eq. parts green chartreuse, fernet branca, lime juice, and simple syrup. -

Mezcal Last Word
You should try to replace the chartreuse with some "Génépi" liquor it has more flavour
