The (Less intimidating) Watch Thread

That’s why I didn’t get one. I scratched up my MoonSwatch crystal in Germany pretty bad and cleaned it right up with some Polywatch that I got on Amazon. If you don’t have any I’d get some. It works very well on the plastic crystals. It comes with a dremel buffer that I slid right into my Black + Decker drill and it buffed right out.

I also like my Sternglas Naos, obviously in a Nomos Tangente style. Comes from a Microbrand based in Hamburg, with Sapphire crystal in the Quartz-Edition for under 200€.

Pictures are created in your head, and you can influence them (i.e. by not being on Facebook). Manufacturers can't always reinvent the wheel, to me it's ok to alter preexisting designs. Basically that is also what IH does. The main point for me is, I don't like wearing items that are too precious (i.e. a watch that costs more than 1000€, the value of my Iphone already pisses me off), and to have a nice watch with sapphire crystal for that price is something I appreciate.

@tody I have the same watch with an Index dial. Cool little watch, I think it’s the precursor to the Ahoi.

Watchland is tough. SO insanely expensive on the high end, and plenty of cheaper options, yet on that end I wonder if I’m buying something that won’t hold any value or is just crap. Most of the time I start investigating, I get overwhelmed and/or frustrated and peace out.
Prob coolest thing I’ve found on the high end that fits my own personal style is the GS automatic diver. Anything more sensible in that realm visually and quality-wise? Considered just the regular Seikos, some cool options there…

@Anesthetist If I'm not mistaken, the Tangente is one of the few models they started with in 1990. The Ahoi borrows heavily from that design for sure - do you own that one as well? It's a tad large for my wrist (or my taste), but I do like the design of the Ahoi much more...

@Giles this is the one I was talking about. Granted it's insanely out of my price range — when I think of spending $8000 on something, it's usually some crazy boutique guitar or a Neumann tube microphone, but I do look at this watch and think of it as a someday goal. I love the Submariner, but there are so many aspects of Rolex that give me pause. This one has that same sort of simple / classic / timeless style to me.

@Giles those are right up my alley, maybe moreso than the GS. LOVE the numbers.

@popvulture do you play in a band, or just a guitar playing aficionado?
-
@Mizmazzle I played in bands for years but it got a bit harder to wrangle people once we passed 30. After 40 even worse, so now I’m working on some solo stuff. Trying to get up the nerve to play solo acoustic shows — I didn’t mind being the singer in a band but somehow doing it up there alone is scary as hell! How bout you?
