Last of the snow and ice is melted so getting spacey tonight
Klaus Schulze and JMJ afterwards. Great tunes for a spacey night @GraemeE !
Would have pulled out some
‚Stratosfear’ - Tangerine Dream afterwards.First time introduced to Klaus Schulze, I was a teenager and couldn’t hold the breath for the time a track of him used to take.
But I can nitty-gritty remember hearing him on a nighttime car trip from Italy back to Germany years later. Cassette after Cassette ran through the car stereo and landscapes and time flew by.
From there on everything with the label ‚Dark Side Of The Moog‘ has my attention. Here is ‚Mindphaser‘ (1981, one of the last outputs of his former label ‚Brain‘)
‚Dig It‘ from 1980
‚Mediterranean Pads‘ 1990Which I had something from his first ten solo albums.

@GraemeE I've never listened to Klaus Schulze - so I gave timewind a listen during work today...DAMN this is great - kinda felt like I was in a fantasy/early Nintendo game

There are so many gems out there waiting to be discovered - thanks for tipping me off to Oxygene @GraemeE . What a journey this album takes you on - I was trying to describe it to my 10yr old son and 'the soundtrack to a celestial pod of whales migrating through the universe' was what came to my mind's eye. Also @endo you're right, that album art is also a masterpiece. thank you gents!!! This album is on my 'to buy' list.

@Inorganic you ever get into any of the slightly earlier German stuff?
Thinking like cluster, harmonia, neu etc
-
@GraemeE this is all new territory for me

Anyone who digs classical, going back to Previn, he had a foot each in classical and jazz. Queue the Gershwin! On the keys and conducting here:

Not particularly into vinyl but I dip into this thread as well as the main music one. Really glad I did today and special thanks to @GraemeE and @Tago-Mago for inadvertently enabling the impossible! After seeing you mention Harmonia and Neu! I discovered that two tickets to a sold out Michael Rother solo gig next week had magically become available - now sold out again
