@goosehd delicious! What's the yellow bit — a polenta type thing?
-
@popvulture Yes, a polenta
-
Man I'd eat the hell outta that. Been a while since I've made some polenta, could end up being a cheffy self-assignment this weekend.

Went to a bbq place in downtown Honolulu that specializes in Central Texas BBQ. Got beef brisket, pork spare ribs, sausages, & a bunch of sides.
-
@RoxRocks86 damn, can say that as a Texan, it looks like they’re doing a pretty legit job. Most attempts outside of the state are borderline criminal at best!

@popvulture haha well happy to say owners are originally from Austin & kept everything traditional by slow smoking meats for hours on end. Best bbq I’ve had ever! The meat was so tender, flavorful, & melted in your mouth. They gave bbq sauce which wasn’t needed. Their dry rub packed more than enough flavor & the pork ribs just fell off the bone. Need to go back for their beef ribs which is their #1 item.
-
@RoxRocks86 Pro Tip...If the meat is falling off the bone of your ribs,it means they're over cooked. You should have to tug a little bit and leave a bite mark. Don't mean to BBQ nerd out on you,but it's my absolute favorite food.
-
@RoxRocks86 ha! Well, I can definitely say they had the right idea in leaving Austin and moving to Hawaii. Role models!
-
@Jett129 oh wow that is news to me! Everyone always raves about meat falling off the bone equaling the best cooked ribs. Good to know, thanks for the tidbit. Will certainly keep that in mind.
The only thing I go off by when it comes to bbq is if the meat is good on its own meaning even with minimal seasoning & it’s not dry, but soft & tender & no where near like chewing on bubble gum or leather.
-
@popvulture hopefully they are living the life. They seem to be doing very good bc their hours are Wed-Sat 11am - 3pm or until they’re sold out. They seem to sell out early most days Had to go on a random day off with no intentions of being in town just to check them out.
-
@RoxRocks86 I used to think the exact same thing until I started going to BBQ competitions and talking to the teams and some of the judges. If the meat is falling off the bone you loose points.

Damn @goosehd , killin it again
