Indigo invitational Y4

@Jcaz6996 Thanks!
Yeah, maybe you're right. Just a bit hard to think "character" and not "ruined jeans"
I see that spot from your latest submission pics. If there's an abrasive part on your tool belt, maybe it could be covered with something smoother, like a fabric or perhaps ideally some smooth leather. That should stop it from grinding down your denim.
(I do some leatherwork when I have the time, and I'd help you out, but don't exactly live close). -
@JunkPants Good job, these are looking great! Don't worry about that mark it adds character
-
@jiminstitches Thanks man, character it is then!
Your pair is looking excellent! (And that Tailgunner is awesome). Did you end up doing a soak/wash, or decide to soldier on?
-
Thanks dude, I’m so happy with the tail gunner! Every night when I get home I get it out just to have a look at it I’m gonna soldier on, I’m gonna go to end of April then I’ll have to soak!
-
@jiminstitches Yeah, I know that feeling And with it fitting so perfectly, that thing is a 10/10 if I've ever seen one. Custom work doesn't always turn out as one imagines/hopes, but that couldn't have gone better. And it will get better still in the years to come.
Nice, I've had some luck simply brushing off some dirt, left from rain splashes, dirty snow etc. (typically on the lower legs) and I'm surprised to be coming up on 90 days without the need to wash. If the Invitational had started in the summer I'm sure I would have been on at least my second wash by now, as I have a fairly low tolerance for grubby clothing.
-
Yeah it came out great, I was super nervous. Thank you I appreciate the kind words yeah that 90 days have gone quick! Yes I do the same with a cloth. I work alone so I can afford to stink when do you reckon you’ll do your first wash?
-
@jiminstitches Haha, I don't have that luxury, and wouldn't want to have to endure my own stink in any case
Hard to say really, I'll try go go as long as possible, but I imagine It'll come fairly quickly when temperatures start to rise. 150 wears seems doable at this point, 200 probably less so, we shall see! Typically my cue to wash is when the jeans get that slick/greasy feel. Which could be next week.
(In the late hours I've also been wondering if anyone has ever done an ethanol soak. Would actually be very effective in wiping out bacteria etc. I'm sure some crazy chemist denimhead out there must have tried it . Anyway, I'll just do the old soak/wash when the time is right)

3 month Submissions

Phenomenal evo already @JunkPants
Love the bibs @Gammaman that’s what I call dedication manHere’s my 3 month 888 SBG update
Fresh out the washing machine and dried in the Easter sun. Habe to admit I am a bit confused by the strange washing marks. Have never experienced anything like it with other fabrics. But will fade out with a few more wears and washes I guess. Love this denim!
-
@weftyarn Thanks! I do feel like the iphone can lie/exaggerate the progress a bit though, I'd say the last two photos I posted seem the most accurate.
Your pair appear to be further along than mine, some good work there!
SBG can be prone to marbling from what I've seen, but as you say it should fade out/blend in with more wear. Some great roping going on already on your pair as well.
Did you soak these before washing (inside out)? -
@weftyarn mine looked very similar after the first wash, but it became completely unnoticeable after a few more months of wear and a second wash!
Seems like SBG 21oz is prone to this, I took care (inside out, pre soak, low spin) but still happened... I guess no spin would've been better, but I'm too impatient to wait 2 days to dry
-
@T4920 @JunkPants Good to hear it’s a common thing with SBG. I did my best with pre soaking and turning inside out, but did not go without spin cycle. Maybe that’s the reason. But I’m a big fan of vintage fades anyways, so the next wash is not too far away

Here is my 3 month update no washes yet. I am going to push them for as long as I can until I give then a wash
