IH-634S - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
Yes, I suppose if I were to do it again, I'd go with a 31 or 32.
-
I've got a pair of 888-21s in 34 and was thinking about picking up a pair of 634 for that straight legged vibe. Any advice on what size to get in comparison with the 888? My only concern is the thigh measurement because I don't really want the hips any tighter than the 888s are. Anyone have any experience buying both?
-
@dkowa The best thing to do is to email the guys at IHUK and ask for help: shop@ironheart.co.uk
They will be able to guide your journey between the different fits and help you decide on the cut that will work best for you.
-
@dkowa I've had both and they are quite different, especially in the top block. The 634 sits a lot lower, under the waist and on the hips. So the fit around the waist, hips an ass will be different regardless. But this really depends on your body type.
Same size or size up for a more relaxed fit, I'd say. But like @goosehd says, discuss it with the gents in Gosport.
-
@Dkowa in my humble opinion i will go with the same tag size assuming that your 888's fit well. I wear tag 36 on both. The hip never felt tighter to me on the 634 vs the 888 and the slight difference in the upper thigh measurement will be compensated by the wider measurement of the 634 at around 5 to 6 inches from the crotch and by the time you get to the knee the 634 os more generous...
-
ya, the shop gave me the same advice, either same size or size up should be good. My 888s are great in the waist but kinda a bit tight in the thigh, but that could be due to the taper to the knee. Lifting weights has made it a bit of a challenge to get jeans to fit in both the thigh and the waist, usually I have to pick one or the other.
-
@dkowa it’s weird because over-eating will do the same
Joking aside this is not an uncommon issue. And tapering is often the issue. There can be a big difference in a jeans dims between crotch and knee, but squats and deadlifts will even out that difference on your actual legs.
Same size should do you just fine.
-
We have something in common. I am a weightlifter also. From my experience its easier for me to size up on the 888's than on 634, unless you are cool with baggy. I don't lose the leg on the 888's when i size up because of the taper but the 634' become too relaxed quickly. If you like relaxed it can work for you. For reference im 182cm tall and 109kg in weight
-
@yannis ah cool, ya, I've had that issue with other jeans. Sizing up often just means that the waist ends up being way too big once everything has loosened up. As long as the 634 isn't secretly a slim fit, the same size should be right.
-
Its definitely not a secretly slim fit. The 666 is the slim straight. I think if your 888's fit the way you like them the 634 same tag will be the way to go.
-
OK, the 32 in the 634S is much better (also got a pair of the 634-WT) . Waist is a bit bigger than I want, but anything smaller the thighs would be too tight.
I'd like to get them hemmed, how much shrinkage is expected after the first few washes? I'd like to plan for that..

First jean from Iron Heart. 634s 21oz. Size:34 I thought size 35 will be fit better for me before recieve regarding to size chart, but i think this is directly my size. I even start to think maybe 33 could work better when i am thinking if they stretching. But end of the day i am happy with my jean it’s getting much softer and comfortable after one wear.
-
@serkanm If they feel good they are keepers. If it pains you to sit, or tie your shoes then they’re too tight (in my opinion).
-
@Brandrea They are very comfortable. And actually, I think they are exactly as they should be in terms of waist size. As seen in the first photo, if I try to put my fingers in, there is a only splace of two fingers. I thought they will be tight before try, and after trying it, I started to wonder what 33 would be like. But I think I'll keep these. Since they don't feel tight, there won't be as much pressure and perhaps they won't stretch as much. Thank you very much for answer.
-
@goosehd Some people in facebook forum told that they could go one smaller, some said they're good like you. This is a bottomless pit. And it's hard to find the perfect pair unless have the opportunity to try it on them. If i sell this and order 33 size, there is no guarantee thati will be happier.
-
@serkanm Fit is subjective and hard for anyone to tell you what’s right and what’s wrong. I know me, how I like things to fit, and what doesn’t work for me.
That doesn’t work for everyone. As previously mentioned, you have to be comfortable. Could you size down? Yes. Will you be comfortable? That’s your question to answer.
21oz. denim stretches fairly easy with wear and time. I’m sure you can pull it off if you want to.

…and to add. @Giles was ready to pass on a jacket the other day because the tag size was smaller than he usually wears, and the jacket came up smaller during the production run. He took a gamble and it has worked out wonderfully.
I did the same on the mustard type II that was recently released. It worked for me, better than I expected it to.
The only person who ultimately can say if something will work or not is you knowing what you like and what you’re trying to achieve.
