NBA (Basketball)

terrible news to wake up to. i saw that obama and the rest were tweeting about kobe and i was like 'huh. what's going on'. then i clicked more news and realised what had happened.. tbh, still in disbelief and shocked. i never watched the NBA but even then you know kobe was the GOAT..

Very sad. Kobe had strong links to the soccer world as he was a huge fan of the sport…. legit fan not just a token celebrity fan. I believe he lived in Italy for a number of years when he was younger when his dad played professional basketball there which is where he picked up his love for soccer. I also believe he was fluent in Italian.
Sad loss for the sports world for sure.

Also tragic for the loss of his 13 year old daughter in the crash and all the other members on board as well. Being a girl dad myself this makes it hit a little closer to home for some reason.

I am absolutely thrilled with the Nuggets. Love the team and so happy they finally broke through for the franchise and the city/state/region.
I don’t see why they can’t do this again, hopefully more than once (as long as we have Jokić)!
-
We own the Lakers ever since they awoke a sleeping giant in the bubble series in 2020. From the WCF sweep last year, we are at 10 straight wins for the Nuggets against them at this point (11 if you go back into the regular season). They haven’t beaten us since December of 2022. Couldn’t ask for a better first round draw, just as the Avs couldn’t ask for a tougher first round draw than the Jets.
I went to game one of the WCF last year and before you knew it Jokic had 12 boards in the first period. Lakers stormed back but Nuggets eked it out. Game 2 of this season’s series seemed like the Lakers’ best shot at avoiding the broom but we will see.
At this point the Nuggets are living rent free in the Lakers’ heads.

Do not need to tell anyone in Denver this but you guys have something truly special in Jokic.
Love me some Laker woe’s but as a Celtics fan, the Heat have been living rent free in our heads for the past couple years. -
@mclaincausey Nugs dealt Lebron his first ever 10 loses in a row stat last night....just a little extra icing on the cake...
@flannel-slut it's crazy because Jokic gets no love (even though that is starting to shift)
All my students who are basketball fans don't like him. I ask why and they same dumb shit like: "He sucks" "He's Lazy"
Point being, he somehow doesn't get the blind adoration of a superstar...which makes him all the more lethal and in my opinion, freaking awesome!! -
@Mizmazzle such a breath of fresh air in todays nba
-
@flannel-slut 100% He's like the Barry Sanders of basketball.
-
I think of him as the Tony Gwynn of basketball. Loves the game, fundamentally sound, not flashy, and a little pudgy.
Those kids don’t understand basketball. The Nuggets play the game beautifully and Jokic is one of the best to ever do it.

The last time the Wolves made it out of the first round I was in middle school, going to be riding this high for about a week.

Nuggets damn near gave me a heart attack. Glad they pulled it out but very worried about the Twolves. Hope the injuries can heal in the much needed time off. Glad I won’t have to hear Reggie Miller fellating LeBron anymore it’s pretty awkward.
Worst playoff game in memory for Jokič. Hopefully he returns to form and fast. AD was pushing him around and I’ve never seen that.
