@mclaincausey Start them early. Have you taken her to an Avs game yet? Hockey is by far my favourite sport to follow
-
@Tago-Mago of course! Hockey is my favorite team sport perhaps save for motor racing. I go to Denver University (reining champs and winningest Division I program) and Avs games regularly.
The Stars are also a tough matchup but I said that about the Jets too, so hoping we can look like the Wolves in this one.
-
@october-rust you’ve got a team to be proud of man!! They’ve taken a juggernaut in the Nuggets and reduced them to infantile play by comparison.
-
@mclaincausey out of respect for your well-reasoned aversion to upvotes I will refrain from giving you one even though I want to
-
lol no skin off my back either way. Go Avs!

Congrats to Jokič for MVP #3.
Not to denigrate his amazing teammates, but he’s done it playing a team game without the kind of surrounding talent of other MVPs
-
I’m not optimistic, but then I never felt great about this series. An MVP on your team has felt like a playoffs death sentence for several years.
I’m thinking Nugs get one road win next game this series and that’s it. I’m here to support them through it all but they haven’t been themselves this whole postseason and even being themselves it would be a tight 7 game series against these Wolves. Could never afford to spot them two home games.
We will need some front office magic to get over the hump next year but this abysmal postseason does nothing to diminish Jokič or his achievement.
-
@mclaincausey yeah. I agree with all of that. They’ve had a few nice bursts of dynamic play. But far from putting together 4 quarters of championship play.
-
@mclaincausey that’s a hell of a stat
-
I would bet this years champ coming out of the Twolves Nuggets series.
Curious to see which Celtics team shows tonight. Having Tatum and Brown is a very solid duo but at the end of the day, a team built around two Scottie Pippens -
Proud of our boys. I feel like a) the refs were way too lenient on the Wolves’ defensive aggression in the first two games and b) the Wolves either tired themselves out or reacted to fouls being called, as the aggression of things like their full court press has waned significantly. Gobert continues to shove defenders on the back in almost every single defensive rebounding scenario and he and the fans were outraged when he got called on it. Ant was the only thing going on offense, and maybe that’s fine: he’s gonna eat, let him eat and shut the rest down. We were shooting like the Wolves were in the opening games, and that can obviously come and go.
The bench and AG were so good last night. MPJ had a horrendous game and still won. Putting up 8 points (the ultimate margin of victory) in the last 30 seconds in the first half right when the Wolves narrowed the lead to single digits was a thing of beauty too. Jokič putting up 16 in the final quarter was what an MVP does.
-
Great game. If MPJ and Murray show up a blowout.
But look at what the MVP is doing:

Sucker for stat lines like this. What is VORP and what website are you pulling this from?
-
@flannel-slut https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/
PER and VORP are advanced statistics that try to figure in how to profile a player more deeply than simple stats like assists, points, rebounds, etc. They originated in baseball sabermetrics and are a good way to quantify the contributions a player makes. The specific definitions for these categories can be found at the link.
@MQR honestly should have 4 in a row IMO
Here’s another crazy one. Career PER. Keep in mind that PER is offensively skewed which disadvantages Jordan, who was a superb defender, but WOW.
