IHJ-129-BRN - Japanese Horsehide Riders Jacket - Brown
-
@flannel-slut Seems that were sized very similarly. Looking forward to pics.
-
Fairly certain I’m going to size down to the Medium but looking for some sincere feedback -sleeves look long but am avoiding bending me arms/creating stacks pending a return, my hangup is a little boxy and the upper arms/bicep area too full
-
There is another part of me saying, you’re overthinking it and will work once broken in
-
The angle of the pics makes it really hard to tell, but judging from the amount of play in the back, I think you could probably size down. How do you like a leather to fit, though? And how free do you want your range of motion? Are you going to wear it with layers? The shoulders look about right.
-
@sabergirl Sooooo hard to decide on this one. Very good check points to work through. I think I was being too greedy and try and get something that could work both layered and w a tee. I think this fit mostly achieves this but having it on do find myself wishing it were more fitted
-
@goosehd thank you sir. I looked through the blk thread just now and and saw @pechelman first pics -a size up (which worked) and then seeing pics a few post down -sized down FTW. Feel like I’m in a very similar camp.
-
@flannel-slut I really think you will be happier with a size down. The shoulders are borderline too big as well as the chest. With the bi-swing pleated shoulders you will have all of the room you need for mobility if that is a concern.
-
@goosehd thank you for confirming the voice in my head. This jacket is too good to not dial the fit in
-
@flannel-slut I think you could go either way, however, it’s a bit difficult to tell from the angle. Have you tried zipping the cuffs all the way down? Keep in mind you will also lose a bit of length in the sleeves after wear.. As mentioned, if you plan on layering, I think the size works. How does the bottom hem feel when zipping it up?
-
@tody @Spectrum156 much appreciated on the feedback. Stubborn crew has me taken care of and has a medium coming my way but for comparisons sake did take a couple more pics at a straight on angle
-
Still think you could go either way. It’s really going to depend on your plans for layering and how you would like it to fit overall. I think you could def pull this off over just a tee and having the ability to throw on a UHF is a plus. As I’m sure @tody and @ARNC can attest, this jacket evolves pretty dramatically through wear and it’s tough to get an initial impression when brand new.
-
@flannel-slut the second set of pics is clearer. It doesn’t look bad from the front but it looks like there’s a lot of room at the back in the first set. My guess is you would still have room to spare even if you added a layer underneath - not sure if it would be more or less noticeable as the leather softens up. I expect the medium will be better for you, but I guess we’ll find out in a few days!
-
It feels good on which is what is causing most of the indecisiveness. The sleeves actually don’t look too bad and hold around my wrists when zippered up (immediately unzipped to avoid setting any creases). Being leather (and a little bit vain), I’m willing to sacrifice some of that comfort for a sleeker fit.
-
I personally don’t think it looks too big. Maybe a tad, but it’ll be nice to have the medium on hand for comparison. I almost always go for just a tee under a leather jacket, so if that’s the case for you, the smaller size might be the way to go. I’d be especially mindful of the shoulders — if the bi-swing gussets are really maxed out when you make a hugging motion, that could be something that gets stressed out over time.
Absurdly long sleeves have always been my biggest gripe about IH jackets — I think you’ll run into that issue no matter what size you get.

@ARNC @popvulture thanks for weighing in guys! Reshoot incoming later this week

@flannel-slut I have drawn circles around the areas that will be fixed by sizing down and makes the jacket look too big on you. The back picture is really bad as you can see how much extra material there is and also gives you excess material in the front chest area.
