@Oaktavia that sweater is a beast! What size did you go with if you don’t mind me asking?

Yes it is, it's the thickest, heaviest one they make. I wear a medium in the thick ones and a large in the thinner lopypesas.

@Oaktavia thank you, colour me intrigued…

There is a very long road ahead…

Hey guys! Last year bought 2 jeans I don't particularly love.
Blackhorse lane NW1 16 oz was hoping either hips will give more, or I'll shrink a bit. Didn't happen.
Oni secret super rough. FOMO got the best of me so sized up in a cut that's too slim for me. Weirdly after wash they shrunk a lot and fit nicely, but now I need to wear them and see how much they stretch back.
This year I want to jump in 25oz pool. It's between iron heart and samurai.
I tried iron heart straight and relaxed tapered cuts in lightweight denims.
888 38" was a no go. 40" was still slim but wearable. Just when sitting down felt like raise slipped down too much. So I don't want to risk that in 25oz
They didn't have 38" 634. Size 40 felt a bit big everywhere but hips.. So I guess question is how much they shrink/stretch? And if hips are nice on 40, should I risk waiting for restock to try 38?
Pics of 40"

Noticing you have on 14oz jeans, please avoid the temptation to go off tag size and instead look at the measurements and talk to the IH Crew directly.
That fit in the picture looks about right though, maybe a little extra fabric in the front rise that should settle and find its way as the top block molds to your body.25oz can shrink up to about ~3% which works out to be about an inch on the length and waist. Things you put under tension will stretch back to where they started.
-
@rimaarts The jeans will shrink approximately one inch in the waist upon wash and will stretch back out that inch with wear.
The way I buy the 25xhs is that they should fit well on purchase and out of the bag. How that fits is up to each person’s personal preferences.
The jeans that you are wearing in the picture look large and I believe you could easily size down one size.
-
@rimaarts to add to the above: take a pair of denim that fits you and measure it the Iron Heart way:
https://www.ironhearteu.com/content/how-we-measure-bottomsThen take those measurements and look for the cut that gives you the closest approximation. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask here. As @pechelman said, forget the tag size and go by measurements
-
@goosehd oh I definitely could size down.... everywhere but hips... And I have a pair with a bit too small hips and I don't want to make the same mistake! And if I size down, everything will look better but I'm not sure if hips will work...
Yes I measured. In theory, 888 should work. In reality they don't.
And after spending 1.5h in denim shop... Apparently measurements just gets you in ballpark! Unless every measurement matches... In which case might as well buy one more pair of same jeans I'm wearing now!
Eh, I guess I'll await a restock, order 38" and see about exchanging to 40 if hips feel small from the beginnin!

I actually got a pair of samurai 25oz off ebay and i think my wish for iron heart 25 oz is on a long pause. They were unsanforised so i sized up. After a 40* delicate wash no spin they didnt shrink width that much so i guess i should have gone with 38.
Wearing 25 oz is fine. Im used to 20oz super secret oni and this feels about similar thickness just much more dense and cardboard like for now. So why ill think long and hard about 25oz iron heart? Buttoning! I quite literally cant button them! I cant risk wearing them where i need to unbutton and button them back! A single button takes me 25min to do and i need a rest after each button! And yes i tried working out buttonholes with screwdriver!
-
@rimaarts Buttoning 25oz Ironheart jeans when new is an exercise of perseverance. One of my tricks is to only work on a couple of buttons at a time, and only unbuttoning the ones needed to slide the jeans off. Normally find that I can button all of them within 2-3 days and can easily do it within a week.
I don’t have any advice regarding your Samurai’s as I don’t have any experience with the 25oz from them. I don’t know if you could even compare the two brands offerings.
As to buying Ironheart 25oz and sizing, please email the shop for advice on shrinkage and proper fit: shop@ironheart.co.uk
The guys that are there are the best in what they do and the reason why so many of us are routine customers.

The Samurai 25oz are way stiffer than XHS. Our warp is double twisted, which results in a more flexible denim...
Interesting..... Ok back on delayed Christmas wishlist (for new year restock)
-
is a restock planned for this soonish by chance?

Whoops, I meant the weft is double twisted, I have updated my original post.....
And it’s not even close. Especially after a few wears, just no comparison. IH 25oz are way more comfortable.
I will say for those considering the 25oz (I have the 888 one) and it goes without saying, is that the initial try on with buttoning may have you regretting your decision. Super rough. And so are the first several wears. Persevere. They become awesome.
Choice of underwear becomes monumental hahaha. If you have too much material in the upper thigh, that material will settle all up in your lower intestines by day’s end. I ride my bike to work and learned the hard way loool. I’m wearing them now at work as the weather has cooled here. Just amazing.
