IHM-37-ODG - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Olive Drab Green
-
The zipper is BUTCH tho …. LOVE it!
-
Bit of a random one but hoping someone can help! I absolutely love this jacket but I don’t love the way the drawstrings hang out beneath the jacket. Can anyone recommend a specific knot that could wrap up the string nicely and not show anything beneath? Or can the string be taken out altogether?
-
@americanathreads You can remove them, yes. If you undo one of the knots you can pull it through the other side

What sort of pin is that? Is it attached with a pin or through the buttonhole?
Anyone?

@EastClintwood It’s a Good Art Hollywood Boutonniere. Self Edge currently has some in stock.
-
@goosehd THANK YOU! I’ve been trying to find one of these …

Thanks! Are those the buttons can be added to order when ordering the N1 jacket. Do you guys attach them before shipping, or is it a DIY thing?
I don't own the N1 yet. Waiting for the new one in Army Green to launch.
-
@EastClintwood It’s a boutonnière and fits into the female side of a button:
I have to look and see which GAH boutonnières IH has in stock, but it would be a separate purchase you could add onto your N1. You might also look at other retailers to see which ones they have in stock.
-
@EastClintwood I just checked and do not see any boutonnières in stock, but do see they have GAH buttons that may interest you. Take a look and email the IHUK crew for any help: shop@ironheart.co.uk
Great jacket and hope you get one!

Hello.
I have this jacket.
How often do I need to redo the waterproofing ?I think this is probably down to usage...
It says to use an iron but what kind of temperature ? Direct on the oiled fabric or using an fabric between ?
I would use a teatowl over the fabric, on a relatively low iron temperature -
@Alex thank you very much ! Well noted for the tea towel !
I have noticed that water penetrates the fabric on mine ? Is it normal or should it forms drops and slide on the fabric (water repellent)I bought mine in August and just start wearing it a few days ago and I was wondering if I should iron it to reactivate the oil on the fabric
What do you think ?Thank you again for your help.
-
@Alex just to clarify : I am new to waxed / oiled products. I have no idea on how to know when I should go ahead and do the Iron thing.
From your experience what are the signs to look for to see if it is ok or it is Iron time (change in colour or texture / change in how the water is absorbed or not) ?I just want to take good care of the jacket.
Thank you.
-
@Germinal I have had my oiled deck jacket for 2 years and I have not had to apply an iron yet. I have not noticed any difference in how the water is absorbed in that time (maybe someone who has worn theirs in harsher conditions regularly can shed more light on it), but I do not tend to wear mine in super heavy downpours often.

It would be cool if they made a hooded version of the oiled N1 someday. After all, the main purpose of the oil treatment is rain protection.
