Slade’s management had a stab at modelling them on the late 60’s Skinhead culture before Glam came along and they got a do over

@Mizmazzle Yeah, deffo!

I think you can tell a lot by a person by which version of COFTN they prefer.
I'd have to pick Quiet Riot's version,but this was my first time hearing the version by Oasis,and I'd probably rate that one second because it made me think it kind of sounded like The Sex Pistols,if they had covered it.

But keep in mind the time had an awful lot to do with their appeal. I totally get why out of context they may not translate. Music, after all, is so much more than just the music.
I couldn’t agree with you more on that account. I have an album coming out,I think,in January that was recorded in 1982. The music is really relevant to that time period. I was really surprised when I heard that someone wanted to release it. I know it was remixed but not much else. Curious to see how it is received.

@Matt the music snob in me wants to claim the original slade version is best(didn't actually hear that one til years later)but coming of age in the 90s i bought the oasis anger cassette single at sam goody.
At that age quiet riot just seemed like "butt rock" for divorced dad's and ner-do-well uncles who drove transams

@Mizmazzle That I played drums on with a band I was in called Sorrows.

@Mizmazzle I have a copy of the original version that was done in 1982. Have to see how this one comes out before I let anyone hear it.
