What size do you guys recommend for 12 oz Wabash western shirt, Im 6’4, 230lbs
? XXL or XXXL
Thank youI'm 6'4 and 200 lbs and normally wear a XXL in Western cuts and an XL in Work cuts. Really though, you need to have a good idea of what your measurements are and what you like -- even then you cant just go off the tag size. One western shirt may have a 47" chest in XXL and another may have closer to a 49" chest.
I will say though, even though I normally buy XXL's, in most cases I could probably get away with XL. I like to have a little bit of extra room -- and since I hope for these to be "Heirloom Pieces" I have a little bit of extra room for growth as I get older.
Best bet is to take a shirt you already have that you really like the fit of and measure it out.

@Snafu Thank you for the tip. I don’t have any IH tops yet. James sent me the measurements for the shirt I ordered and Im crossing my fingers that it fits well. I think it will. I’m pretty big on top, and I saw on yt some guys that are tall as me but slim like you, like that wraglestar dude, and he wears XXL. I’m pretty sure 3X will be perfect. I’m super excited about it!

@Tago-Mago Thanks, that’s what I did.

@tody I think I asked in the wrong thread. I ordered a 12oz Wabash Western Shirt in black, not a CPO shirt. Still I think I will need a xxxl in cpo shirt too

I have to say that @goosehd was right about CPOs best as an outer shell layer.
I do think it depends on the CPO. The 347 & 389 for example I think are good undershirt or midshirt layers, with something hefty over the top, season dependant of course.
Definitely true I wear my 389 under my T1 so that's a great point. That fabric is perfect for an under layer.

@Oaktavia If you’re not wearing two or three CPOs at a time then what’s the point?
Wabby looking great.

Hey guys. This one just found its way into my possession somehow. Today I went into Dutil Denim to try on a shirt from an other brand (it was a Freenote Utility shirt in Charcoal) and grabbed this one off the rack just to see how it looked. Out of all the shirts I had on including that Utility shirt, I just kept coming back to this wabash. The funny thing is it’s a medium and I was almost sure I was a Large in Ironheart. That said, it fits almost as if were tailored for me. Maybe I need to rethink my ih size? More interestingly, the look just seemed to keep improving somehow. I didn’t want wabash. It wasn’t even remotely on my radar & I don’t like stripes! But the wabash called to me using some form of Japanese Ai. Idk.. WABASH!! Okay, fine I left with the bloody wabash and now I’m here writing this post saying “wabash”to myself in an almost brain—rot sort of mantra.
So a couple of interesting things:
-
CPO is an amazing form factor. I absolutely love that there’s pockets for my hands. When said pockets aren’t being used they eff off in a disappearing chameleon sort of way. This is so cool!
-
the buttons or snaps are next level. I have an ish 33OD with the regular snaps and these are just so much nicer!!
-
the indigo already rubbed off on my white undershirt at one of the armpits. Hopefully I can get it out in the wash.
I also tried out a non modified type 3 in the 21oz. Nice jacket but I really have come accustomed to pockets. This was in Large and fit me perfect. IDK, maybe the wabash is a largish medium? Just measured and here’s what I got:
18.2” shoulders
21.4 chest
25 sleeve
29 lengthIn any case I will leave you with WABASH!

@Chibs this one came up big. Am usually an XL but could have got away with a large. You need to go back and get that Freenote utility! Awesome shirt.
-
@Oaktavia I don't think there is anyone who can wear wabash better than you <3!
-
@RobeOfTheMagi thanks man I love the 227!!!

Sizing on this stuff is a bit of a battle for me. That Freenote shirt was awesome but I fell in-between a small and medium unfortunately. The small fit almost perfect but the arms were just a bit too short. So if they shrunk even a centimetre in the wash, I’d be out of luck.
I’m really happy with how the wabash fits though. It’s not something I would have ever picked / ordered for myself online but I know I made a good decision.Mainly because I keep thinking about it and checking it out in my closet. Lol. Very serendipitous!
