His stans are insufferable but I don't understand the connection artistically to Taylor Swift.
-
I’ll admit too that my appreciation for Kendrick goes beyond his voice and even the music.

@mclaincausey Maybe it was the bell bottoms?

@Matt said in Unpopular opinions:
I don’t like Kendrick or Drake and I absolutely couldn’t care less about their beef.
I heard their names and guess they are rappers or hiphoppers, but I'm just not interested enough to look anything up about them.
-
@mclaincausey it wasn’t a comparison of the artists. I think it was more a reference to the type of people that gobble up mediocre music and put their mediocre artists on a pedestal. Taylor Swift is an amazing business woman, and I’ll leave it at that.
-
That still makes no sense to me. Like him or not, Lamar's talent is undeniable.
I don't have an opinion on Swift.
-
Either way, to any who doubt Lamar's talent and are open to change their minds, check out this analysis of a GUEST spot on another rapper's track.
-
Respect that certain types of music aren't necessarily everybody's cup of tea, but I'd urge any curious minds with an interest in music to check out this Podcast series (just try the first episode, it might surprise you) on Kendrick Lamar's Pulitzer Prize winning record DAMN. Especially if you're unfamiliar with his work outside of pop culture rap beefs and radio hits.
I find learning to appreciate things I never really understood before one of the greatest pleasures in life, and that the more you make an effort to do this, the more open you find yourself to new experiences and ways of thinking in general.
-
@mclaincausey ahaha, as if we both posting the same podcast recommendation...
I don't obsess over Kendrick in the same way I do over some other artists, but such dismissive comments are slanderous!
Objectively one of the greatest artists of our generation.
-
@T4920 hilarious. No one has to like him. I hardly listen to him myself. But dismissing his talent is a bad take.
-
@mclaincausey @T4920 amen
-
@mclaincausey I don't know enough about his music to give an opinion about his talent. I was just repeating something I heard that I thought was funny. The cult following that he commands mirrors the cult following of Taylor Swift. It's not much deeper than that.
-
Yeah man his stans are absolutely insufferable. But then most stans are. A lot of the bands I like have cult followings that I generally keep at arm's length. C'est la vie I suppose.
-
@mclaincausey Same here.
-
@seawolf at least IH stans are awesome !
