@Inorganic i read it a few years ago and just revisited the audio book a few weeks ago
I really enjoyed it although it's not particularly uplifting
I'm actually trading @mclaincausey for the charlie watts book he is reading so might as well put this in rotation after he is done with it
-
@GraemeE and I’ll send that one back to you or elsewhere per your request. I have some books I’ll offer up here as well for sharing. It’s the IH Library
-
@mclaincausey ill trust your judgment on who best would enjoy it next
-
After thoroughly enjoying Ametora im halfway through this one - would recomend

Re-reading (actually audio-book now) the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson.
These were written in the 90's and the plot is set to begin in the 2020's. Some hilarious projections of 1990's technology got me though. For example: they are still sending Fax on Mars in the future, and have video rental stores in Martian cities -
@GraemeE well I’ve found what to ship you alongside Sympathy for the Drummer then
-
@Tago-Mago don't even get me started.. at least fax was somewhat digital. Was effectively unable to vote in the recent German elections, since a letter from DE to DK took 13 days! So we are left with fully analog exchange of letters, but with a dysfunctional mail service. Actually today the Danish Post (Post Nord) announced that it will stop all letter delivery from next year.

@mclaincausey nope, at least not yet. It’s on my list to read this year though. I debating on whether reading that first or Saxophone Colossus by Levy. I’ve had the latter in the bookshelf for a minute, it’s just an intimidating read but I know I’ll breeze (relatively speaking lol) though it once I start.

@Tobi i still think about Red Mars. Robinson did a wonderful job of describing the landscape of Mars - the enormous proportions and size of the cliffs, canyons etc. I didn't go on to read the following 2 books, but listening to them does sound enticing.

I finished The Secret Society this evening. What a read….i actually picked it up based on what peeps were saying in this thread about it. Thanks!

A tag line that should go down well here. I’ve never bought his clothes, or seen much of his tv work but I thought this book was brilliant. An echo of my own thoughts over the last few years.

@NickD I fixed the title for the average IH customer:
