Anyone here play video games?

@T4920 That is no small undertaking...
Sounds like you're well ahead of me. I'm stuck on the purple level (I think) with the deck that has only hearts and spades. The furthest I have taken any other deck is only to the red level, I think. Nowhere near gold on any of it, at the moment!

@EdH I get you, I am very easy to get addicted too... When I want a special weapon or armor and just need to hunt that one monster two times more I can't stop
With Elden Ring I even came to a point of asking myself if it's still fun or just wanting 100%

@FlavourFade I was lucky enough to have my bout of Covid just as Elden Ring launched, and I smashed through most of it in three days semi-deleriously on the couch. I got the platinum trophy a little while later.
I wasn't that enamoured by Elden Ring by the end. It re-used too many bosses - I think there were only 3 or 4 that were actually unique by the end of it - and I couldn't get into a second playthrough because I'd already done all the exploring with my first character and I thought it lost a lot of its magic when all you're doing is making a bee-line for the things you need for your build.
I finished Dave the Diver last week, and genuinely think I had more fun with that than Elden Ring, all said and done. It never failed to delight me with its silly story, charming art and cutscenes, and satisfying catch fish > cook fish > make money to get better at catching fish gameplay loop.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 looks and is amazing but I haven't picked it up. Not yet. Have got Monster Hunter Wilds. I got burnt out playing World but Wilds is a lot easier to manage hunt to hunt and if the community are claiming the campaign is too easy. End-game is where the actual meat on the bones of the game is though and no doubt the difficulty will spike.
Elden Ring, also got the plat. But not keen on Elden Ring Night Reign as you need to play as a team of 3 - it's more of a rogue type gameplay loop.
Will pick up Split Fiction to play with my kid. Looks like it might be the best co-op game ever (It Takes Two was amazing).
Also, can we talk about the second best thing out of Japan (after Iron Heart)... my boy Hideo Kojima dropping Death Stranding 2 trailer !!
Talking of METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER is another on the list.
I think I'm a video game nerd.

@EdH as Elden Ring was my first souls game I really enjoyed the experience but was glad when I finished it. I don't love games which so little story and only the grind made it feel like work finally. Loved the combat mechanics but wasn't enough for new game plus for me
Dave the diver is still on my pile of shame. Another game I loved recently was disco elysium. Never experienced something similar to that masterpiece!

@Nick wilds is definetely more casual and easier to manage! Kcd2 is amazing, the realism and depth of the world ist great. That's how cyberpunk should have been when it comes to worldbuilding

Anyone had a go on Atomfall? looks awesome and very fallout ish but set in the UK. Wondered if anyone had played any of it yet and was it worth a go?

Anyone played Avowed yet?
Don't do it lad!
I haven't played it but it feels like it's another victim of the current AAA mis-step to dumb down these RPG's to super-casual levels.

Reviews are great. It's an interesting game for sure, like a mini-fallout. Not quite got the depth but has plenty of personality and details. Lacks in deep RPG stuff but seems to make up for it with presentation.

Have started it (Wilds) and I agree. It's so much easier to settle into a groove with it. Not a lot of hunting - which has irked the hardcore community. But I'm far less overwhelmed than I was with World.
As for KCD2 - still not played. I just cant sink the time into it yet. Esp with Path of Exile 2 patch incoming this week.
Think we're gonna need 3-day weekends chaps.

@Nick Haha, too late, I gave it ago, I completed it, wasn't crap, wasn't great, I think a solid 6.7/10 is a fair score for a free game, from a big developer there is probably a lot of stuff people would like to see, like you cant attack guards etc you cant knock things off tables I know people like this kind of aspect in games but didn't bother me personally. There were elements that were very enjoyable, but it was very much a baldurs-looking game with Skyrim mechanics, some of the dialogue was really long! but it was very easy to get on board with and master like you say dumbed down probably but sometimes that's not a bad thing, nothing worse than something that's too overwhelming, I feel the later AC series of games is a bit like that now; you have so much to do and go and see, etc.
-
@JoshC Content creators were comparing it to Oblivion and questioning why there was less depth with mechanics and interaction.
Think AAA games are in a weird place right now. They cost hundreds of millions to make and yet so many miss the mark. But yeah, your score seems to be pretty spot.
Watched a great video this morning on the train up; was citing original AC trilogy and the other games released at the time - all following a story that Ubisoft then pretty much binned off to keep making the games (pretty much $ over creativity).
Modern day AC are barely AC games now. Shame.

From what I've read/heard/seen about the game, beyond the nuclear-disaster retro-futurism of the setting, it is not very fallout-ish when you actually play it.
There's no player-stats, for instance. The RPG seems to come from making dialogue choices with NPCs (which apparently go quite deep, you can offend everyone and end up without any allies, for instance. I also saw another reviewer say that he came across as too crazy when telling one NPC about the weird things that had been happening to his character, and the NPC shut the conversation down and then blanked him thereafter).
It also apparently tells you very little, leaving you to figure out what to do, where to go (you might get a clue that a location is "west" of another location, but no more than that, and no map markers), so has some immersive sim vibes. You can apparently murder every other character in your quest, and still achieve an ending. There are also apparently severe limits on what you can carry, forcing you to make meaningful choices about which objectives to pursue.
I'm definitely interested myself and think I will pick Atomfall up at some point when I clear a few more things from my backlog.
For my part, I cleared Immortals of Aveum from my backlog last week. A very enjoyable magic-themed FPS. The cutscenes and dialogue were a bit Marvel-esque with all the quips, and there was a lot of nonsense Proper Noun lore-dumping, but I thought the mechanics were good and enemy variety forced you to keep mixing up how you played. It was 'free' on PS+ last year or so, and I'm pleased I finally got around to playing it. A shame it didn't sell well and EA closed the studio, as I think this had B-movie-like potential to become a fairly decent franchise.
Currently playing Animal Well (which I'm finding quite hard) and Persona 5: Royal for the most part.

Agreee on the weekend idea
POA2 is on hold for now because I was so hooked by KCD2 and compared to Monster Hunter I like it better but am playing wilds with a buddy still. Mostly I try to not play too many games at the same time
