Watches - another OCD problem
-
Thanks for your thoughts and honesty fellas. I think you can pick one up second hand for around 2000 usd. I'm pretty sure if I find the one I want I could stretch up to 1500 euros. No more.
I just love the design of the Kobold but being a newbie have no idea about the quality. From what i've read so far they don't seem like that big a turkey.
I'm continuing the search. The Kobold's are the most beautiful watches i've seen (apart from the Panerais of course!) so far.
I like the idea of a diver on leather and there aren't many that can pull it off. -
don't mean to say that they are crap, just that I think that they are overpriced… I did not made any research on the 2nd hand market, but if a 5k+ watch goes for 2k 2nd hand, there is something wrong in my eyes... from only the visiual aspect I kinda like them...
For the leather strap thing, that works actual on a lot of divers
have a look here, for example

Guys,
Check this out. I think it's too big for my girly wrists but I also have my eye on the Pam 386 due November time.
We call this watch "el bronzo" , figured$10 k USD or there a bouts

I really like that Panerai. They make some of the coolest limited edition watches out there; not that there standard watches aren't amazing as well…
Simon, you could definitely wear that. It's only 3mm bigger than the standard Panerai's and although they are pretty big, they look good on most people. I have seen women wear them and have it not look too big.
nice find...

Because I am a prat and am used to wearing a waterproof watch, I got into the bath with this (un-waterproof) on this morning…...
I belted around to the local watch man and asked him to whip the back off. Result, no water penetration at all. I won't be doing it again in a hurry, but at least I now know, it'll deal with my stupidity better than some…....

Damn, Giles, your post gave me arrhythmia. Glad to know that "old beater" handled the unintentional soaking with no problems.

Ouh my lord G that is one seriously nice watch.
I can't believe you went in to the Bath with it….....

I would like to purchase a watch from the year I was born (1975).
Any recommendations?

Omega's are always good value !

Funny you should say that; I was going to suggest a Speedmaster Professional. Classic watch that can be found for a reasonable price on the secondhand market and will fit in with any setting, from wearing a tux to wearing grubby jeans.
Finding a watch with a verified build date in 1975 might be complicated, as most don't include that information clearly, and good watches don't change much from year to year (unlike cars, for instance).

thats what i was thinking. you may have to settle for made around the 70s rather than specifically 1975. To get an accurate date like that usually means its really special and rare or it was bit of a flop and didnt get reproduced for the following years.
