Anyone here play video games?
-
@GardenState Yeah, it looks maddening that talent tree. YouTube is going to be doing a lot of hand holding in the next few months
-
@Nick Yeah if I play it (because my friends are) I will wait until they figure out all of the "good builds" for me.
-
@Nick Hell yeah man have fun! I tried a few classes to find the one that fit my play style (monk) and then just dove in. I'm stacking crit and defense in the skill tree and having a blast with it.
With POE I think part of the point is to be overwhelmed, to just pick a node and go for it and as you improve, everything feels more natural and slows down. Just my 2 cents but I feel like they've done a great job with it

They listen to the community. I've just seen the new patch notes and the changes already looks great. Of course, we have 6 months to 1 year of this before the game officially releases as final product.
Will be fun. And I 100% agree. I don't mind being overwhelmed. Considering I love video games that have a harsh learning curve, being lost and then praying for a meta build will one option for sure!

Somehow my kids have turned me into a real Fortnite fan. @JoshC i remember you mentioned that some of the games other than battle royale are really good. Any recommendations for games that would improve my building skills and aim? I’m good enough that I don’t embarrass my kids anymore but would like to be an asset in squads.
-
@SKT Not sure about building as I only play no build on FN, but for aiming, just practice really and practising your tracking of players, learning the recoil patterns of weapons, if you are good/used to the recoil patterns but you're losing out on movement when players are too close you should increase your sensitivity I can't remember what mine is on FN, but I know for Warzone it starts at like a 6 and I have moved it up to a 10 so I can flick round quicker if I am getting shot at from behind or if someone tries to break my camera angle, but communication and pings are always important so you can let your team know where enemies are etc.
I always feel it's important to warm up. We go into private games or public team death matches just to warm up, or we play a little 2 v 2 with our teammates to warm up; we always do that before we do something like ranked or BR in general.

@JoshC thanks for the recommendations! It’s a struggle for me to get better. Just when I think I’m really improving, I drop into a match with some sweats and they just smoke me. It’s very humbling (and embarrassing for my kids). The building stuff is really hard to get down, I should probably stick to zero build just to improve my basic skills. Anyway, thanks…I’m enjoying this new season with the Japanese themes!

I got Path of exiles 2 for ps5 before the holidays and it's a great game. Little bit like Diablo meets Elden Ring

It's what Diablo 4 wishes it could be. And the boss fights are extremely Dark Souls/Elden Ring in design. Very satisfying when defeating them.
-
@Nick totally ! Played the Diablo 4 campaign with some mates via gamepass and it was okay but always felt like there was a lot missing potential

It’s open world yes?
Yeah, massively so! The way the game flows is reminiscent of RDR2 with a dash of the the watchtower/enemy camp system you see in a lot of open world games nowadays.
Typically these mechanics put me off games as I feel like I've done it all so many times before, but the artistic vision of GoT more than made up for it's lack of originality in this department.

@SKT Ghost of Tsushima is one of my most favorite games. It's beautiful and fun. There is a sequel coming which looks like it will be equally as good. I know some people were upset because of the female protagonist but it's all loosely based on history.

Can’t remember if I’ve asked this before but has anyone played Ghost of Tsushima? I’ve been interested in playing for a while but haven’t gotten around to starting.
Fantastic game. Truly breathtaking vistas and the art style really does make it stand out above so many of the trope-driven open world games.
From a design perspective, it reinvents a lot of things so that it doesn't feel like you're constantly travelling from a point of interest to yet another point of interest.
Combat, story, the lot. Looking forward to the second game that's recently been announced.
