Iron Heart X Simmons Bilt Horsehide Western Shirt - The Pale Rider - Natural
-
@denim-dawg Don't touch it! Yours is the "new version" - softer, with a slight sheen to it. The older ones are slightly sueded and less uniform in their appearance - perhaps why people were so quick to treat them.
I would keep it wild.
-
@denim-dawg my vote is keep it natty style!! Love how the natural veg ages untreated. Sometimes wish I never treated my bareback. But like mentioned, mine was the older velvety feeling leather. It seamed thirsty.
-
Any idea when it will be restocked?
-
@denim-dawg is wearing the new sample I think @yannis ! So the one you mostly see here won't come back sadly.
-
@FlavourFade. Thank you!
-
@Jett129 That is such good advice!! Once you go conditioner you cannot go back. Appreciate you taking the time. Yes, the colours are positively reacting differently.. will look more and more like an animal as it progresses with the elements. Best wishes!!
-
@pechelman Yessir! This is the new leather, the sample. It does not scream for lotion or thirst, but more to be worn continuously. Good point with cracking - do not feel that is necessary at this point. The inside is also really smooth and feels great with just a t-shirt underneath. Even though.. the wabash is the preferred companion. Thank you - I will keep going au natural until further notice! Cheers
-
@indigostiff Don't touch it?? Hahahah.. that is easier said that done.. It is so soft and smooth, and you just want to touch it all the time haha... True - slight sheen to it, not sueded. Joking aside, I go with your advice and let it be free and wild and .. young.. haha Cheers
-
@Mizmazzle It seemed thirsty? Or was it you? Haha..just being silly. It is only 26 days in and already it is like a chameleon, adding colour to whatever it touches. Just wore the 526J that I have been saving and just after an hour there is indigo on it - what an adventure! Your Bareback is INSANE!! Dig it!!! Keep posting!! It is such good fun to watch and follow the different journeys. Wish you a wonderful day, good man
-
@denim-dawg thanks holmes! I do love my Bareback. Might be time for shirtless, under the back porch wear time again like last summer haha
I’m curious, do you know…the sample of the Pale Rider…is it made from the natural Blattwerk leather?
-
@Mizmazzle Yes it is
-
All samples have been pegged to my backyard fence for about 9-10 months or so. (The split steer has only been out for about 2 months)
Full elements of Denver, Colorado. Tons of sun, rain, snow, very cold weather and very hot weather. Dry arid climate. Leather samples have not been treated.
Left Sample= Mustang Natural: Very hard and stiff now.
Middle Left Sample= Steer Natural: Lots of color change and very hard and stiff
Middle Right Sample= Natural Blattwerk: Very mild color change, still spongy and pretty soft. Would still be comfortable to wear in its current state.
Right Sample= Split Steer from the IHJ-49 Black: still has a nice suede hand feel, slightly stiffer than the control sample (That whiteish blemish was already there when I tacked it up) -
@Mizmazzle thanks for sharing this, it is beyond helpful as I navigate which vintage of Pale Rider I’ll be looking for. As I understand it the newer ones, when available, will be the right sample (of the 3 brown ones) whereas older versions are the left most? If so I think I’m on the hunt for an older XL….
-
@Inorganic I do also prefer the OG but maybe with real wear the nat blattwerk looks cool too. Let's wait for the work of the @denim-dawg
-
@Inorganic glad you’re finding it helpful. The old version of the Pale Rider and BareBack leather are not in this experiment.
These are the new natural leathers that Simmons Bilt was trying as a replacement for the QC issues they were having with the old version leather. Only the blattwerk in the experiment has been used in the current sample that Denim Dawg is wearing.
-
@Mizmazzle ah ok!!! Very good to know. Thanks
-
@Inorganic for sure man!!
