@october-rust sweet!

@october-rust re: the lens replacement, how'd you do it? Do you send them to JMM or does an optometrist do it? Curious how easy it is to get the same spec lens JMM uses, just in a diff shade. I've got a pair of Balzac in Titan and have also thought I might like to switch out the lighter blue lenses for maybe some more classic dark green.

I know it wasn’t addressed to me, but I think any optometrist should be able to spec replacement lenses for any frame within reason. @popvulture

Cool I figured! I don't wear glasses so I've never really dealt with an optometrist. Basically my main concern would be getting the same lenses JMM uses in there. Wouldn't wanna have forked out all that cash for a pair of shades, then something lesser gets popped in.
Not assuming that an optometrist would use something cheaper, more just wondering whether it'd be the same spec.

I recently went through a local optometrist (that doesn't carry JMM) for JMM shades rx lenses. If I had to do it over again, I would get my rx from local optometrist, then order from online retailer that carries JMM (I've had good luck with Twelve Sixty Nine and Black Optical but there are others) and have them update lenses to rx.
Local optometrist got it right eventually, but it took a lot of Q&A and a couple extra weeks due to miscommunication / not following instructions.

if anything, the stock jmm lenses really arent anything special other than perhaps the colors they use. They're mostly all unpolarized cr39.
Local shops / optometrists can do the custom lenses or there are a number of online places that can do the same thing for a lot less. I had a decent first experience with zoomerlenses but it sounds like he's a little overwhelmed and hasnt responded to a recent request. I had another person recommend replacement lens express that I'll likely try out soon to do a set of rx amber transitions in a set of hickory taos.

Cool! Yeah it seems like maybe getting the update done by someone who carries JMM is a good move, so that definitely seems like a wise plan @68degreesorless . @pechelman let me know how it goes with the Lens Express place
There are other JMMs I'd like to try out but I'm a little hesitant now that they've gone up so much in price. I might cave one day but I think in the meantime it'll be fun to update my Balzac. I really love the black frame w/green lens combo and they don't seem to have been doing that too much lately.

I'll echo what @pechelman wrote, JMM lenses aren't as outstanding as their frames. A good optician can get you higher quality lenses and offer you more color selections. I've done this with a pair of Fontaine and Kellerman frames.
-
@popvulture sorry for the late reply! But I’ll just echo what everyone else said- super easy. I just took them to a local frame repair shop I found with good reviews. The guy was familiar with the brand, and also told me everything JMM does is at the absolute top tier, sans the lenses. He popped out the original lenses for me on the spot in case I ever wanted to put them back, and less than 24 hours later my frames were back with polarized lenses.

Just got my first pair of JMM frames a few weeks back. still waiting on the call from my optometrist to let me know they are ready with my prescription!
