Posting this so @weftyarn and @motojobobo can see what the lighting was like and why the wave had the yellowish color.
-
Awesome, absolutely love these!
-
@weftyarn Ironically, some of the surfers have complained that my pictures are too tight and I should zoom out more, while some of the other surfers told them you should shut the fuck up and be happy someone is taking pictures of you. If possible I want to see the surfers face. They want more of the wave etc.
-
Oh man, how can you complain about something you’re neither paying for nor having asked for. Like giving constructive feedback is one thing, but complaining? I will never understand it.

Finally got to look through all the Hamburg shots.
We had some B&W already, so here’s a more colorful 35mm dose: -
@weftyarn I send all the surfers, who ask, their pictures for free. They occasionally offer me money to which I always reply…Just do something nice for someone else. One of their suggestions was that I include some of the scene/people/umbrellas etc. on the beach. They know absolutely nothing about photographic composition. It would be like me telling them how to surf. Most of the guys are super nice and appreciative.
-
Very cool stuff @Jett129 . I never realized that mustardy yellow color was a backlit wall of water as the faces of the surfers are nicely lit too. Guess there is just tons of light bouncing around.

I see. Can relate to the money part. I’m sometimes shooting friends’ weddings as a „hidden backup guy that nobody knows about“. People have suggested me being the only photographer and asking money for it. But that would take away 80% of the fun and probably 90% of the picture quality as people would then expect to be photographed. And people that expect to be photographed never look good. Except they’re actors / models or just talented haha.

Lommerzheim, Cologne - one of the most authentic, welcoming and joyful places I’ve ever had a beer.

Okay friends. The time has finally come to replace my Nikon D40x. It’s been with me for well over a decade. At this point my iPhone 15 Pro Max can take better photos and is easier to carry. I’m looking to invest in a mirror less camera and decent lenses. I’d really like your help in deciding on something I can use for years to come. So thank you in advance to anyone who chimes in!
First up - budget. Ideally I’d like to stay under $3k total for body lenses. Looking to finance through a major chain like Best Buy, Walmart, etc. looking at some holiday deals.
Uses - Landscape / Nature photography and Street / Fashion Portraits
Body - probably not going to get away with full frame, but is it really necessary for my purposes?
Lenses - I’d like to get one nice prime lens either 35 or 50 mm. And one that can zoom in a little bit 24-70?
Research so far - looks like Sony A7 III and Canon EOS R7 are some notable choices from some online searching. What I’d like some help deciding is what would be the best body and lenses to choose from within this budget. Is one brand better than another for future lens purchases? I’ve used mainly an 18-55mm lens on a crop sensor body for the past 10+ years and have been quite happy with results. I’d like to have better auto focus along with bokeh with my photography. And for landscape, Larger photos with higher resolution.
Again. Thanks a million for reading this and offering any advice. I’m going to sell a lot of IH Gear and some guitars to get this! Just want some inspiration to get my sales threads stated
