RIP Filthy Mike

Mike was such a thoughtful, generous, and helpful guy! I forget how we managed to exchange phone numbers, but he would text me now and then just to see how things were.
I remember he and I were eyeing this Ship John denim jacket that was about to release. When I said I couldn't swing the purchase that month, he offered to loan me the money! We hadn't even spoken offline or anything, but here he was offering to lend me cash!
He taught me a lot about shrinking and cleaning denim and always managed to make me laugh.
Fairwell, man. You'll be so missed.

mickeys in his honor.
Dude I can't find Mickeys anywhere! I talked to the clerk at a liquor store today in Maryland and he said his distributor doesn't offer it anymore. Mike told me he had to special order cases of the gernades from his local store.

Ouch!!! I haven't look that closely at a convenience store offerings in a while, so I guess I'd better keep lookout.
Either way, at least a beer in his honor tonight.

Maybe we can all wear our bibs tomorrow and post photos on here as a tribute to Filthy Mike. Would that be cool?
Absolutely do this! I don’t have bibs, but I will definitely be wearing the two jeans he sent me in heavy rotation for the next little while. I’m still so gutted. What a loss [emoji174]

Such sad news. I never got to meet Mike in person but like many I connected with him on here and had the privilege of speaking with him on some of the UHHHs. If it wasn’t for IH and the forum our paths would never have crossed, and I’m so glad they did.
For me, this is the third successive weekend of losing someone I care about. An uncle, a dear friend I have known for 20 years and now Mike. It says so much about Mike that his passing ranks alongside the other two who, objectively, I knew much better.

Definitely bibbin' it up tomorrow.

@sabergirl hell yeah

I’ve been driving all day and just got to Denver. I can’t believe this. I’m so sorry for any of you who may have been particularly close to Mike. I remember when he was a newcomer here and went by @filtjybloodjunky. I didn’t pack my bibs for the trip but I’ll be sure to spend some time in them next week. While doing so I’ll be sure to think not only of him but of each of you. He loved IH so much because of all of you. This is a great time for us to celebrate exactly what brought Mike to us and what keeps us all so tight not despite being spread out all over the world. I guarantee it wasn’t jeans.
Love you guys.

This is heartbreaking news. I haven't been as active on the forum recently, but certainly always looked forward to an opportunity to talk to Mike or message with him. He's certainly a big reason for my passionate bib ownership and it just hurts to lose such a genuinely kind and interesting friend. Huge loss for this community

Really sad to hear this about Mike. During the time that I have been a member of this forum he has always been like an institution here. As mentioned by many, I was always impressed by his thoughtfulness, generosity, dedication, inspiration, enthusiasm, and mostly his passion for all things Iron Heart related. I could go on but I think all are aware. I will also miss his passion for his cat Pickles, which he recently posted pics of. May he rest in peace eternally in his Iron Hearts.

Mike was a genuine person. i got to have a few conversations with him about videogames and tattoos and really wish I would have taken the time to get to know him better. Things seemed very heavy for him lately and that makes me sad because he seemed to genuinely enjoy talking/helping people out.
Rest in Peace

Newer forum member here but glad you all gave Mike his flowers while he was with us. From creating the Filthy Few to sending him care packages in his tough times - you all showed him how important and loved he was.
Hope his family is able to find peace.
Legends never die.

Just reading this..damn I'm in shock. Mike was an absolute legend. His passion was evident and equally infectious. He was such an ambassador not only for IH but the community here on the forum. I'm sorry and feel for all of Mike's close friend on here and his family. Damn..
May he forever rest easy.

Newer member here and unfortunately never got to meet or really talk with Mike. Regardless, this is very sad news - I hope he is at peace.
Just a suggestion for anybody who knew his family and could possibly ship out one of his bibs - I think it would be great if you guys hung up his favourite bibs at Iron Heart HQ. Again, I never really met him, but I have a feeling that he'd really appreciate his favourite bibs on display forever at Iron Heart HQ. -
This a such a gut punch to read this morning…

Wow. Just no words. Mike was so kind to me in all our interactions and while he never could convince me to get into a pair of bibs (despite his valiant efforts :D), he rocked those muther fuckers like a son of a bitch!
I hope he is at peace and I pray his family can find some solace in the midst of such tragedy.
Rest easy friend….

I just read the obit, and while this post is about Mike and not IH, I do think it’s important to note the impact this community had on Mike. So much so that it made it into the obituary.
While it said his favorite pastime was shopping for IH clothing, we all know IH is far more than just purchasing pieces and adding to a collection.
I feel honored to be a part of a community that so positively impacts people’s lives and it’s clear Mike felt the same.

Cheers.
