@Mizmazzle I'm watching night two live on YouTube now, my favourite band without without question. The synth jams are phenomenal and everything just gels together so seemlessly, they were awesome when I saw them in May, but they've stepped up the game even further with the cameras on them this tour
-
@Denman-John put on any of their recent live shows and you'll be in for a treat!
As Miz said, catalogue is sooo diverse but here's a good resource for the studio albums!
This current live show...
'We've just gone over curfew, so we're gonna pay one more song...'
15 minute Float Along, Fill Your Lungs jam

@Mizmazzle I listened to to the one you went to in the gym this morning too! Dragon sounded so sick live, especially the occult-esque chanting towards the end.
As @TENDREL mentioned previously, I'm also a fan of The Grateful Dead, but they're not popular at all here in the UK so I only get to see tribute bands very occasionally..
From what I've read in books, and seen in documentaries, I agree that the current wave of gizz fever is the closest my generation is gonna get to getting on the bus and seeing it all unfurl in real time!
-
@Mizmazzle missed you! Made all 3. What a ridiculous band.
-
@mclaincausey I almost went last night too but couldn’t make it. Osees on Wednesday though!! So stoked.

Live and STP in Cuyahoga Falls(Cleveland) with friends. Live was my lovely wifes and my first show a loong time ago!

The KGLW run was amazing wire to wire. No one else is like them. Individual talent is off the charts and the egos mesh perfectly for a sum greater than the incredible parts.
They started playing the riff from Hell during Hot Water. It starts about 2:48:
This riff was picked off of a Herbie Mann tune called Uskudar from his album Impressions of the Middle East:
That’s the kind of stuff you get with them. Just crazy influences.

Man, I love these little flourishes.. hearing the baseline to Bitter Boogie during Daily Blues at the Red Rocks show really put a smile on my face, Paper Mache Dream Balloon was the record that got me hooked.

Oh heck yeah, we going deep down the Gizz hole. Also seriously love the Osees which have a similar vibe in some ways to Gizz. John Dwyer is a machine, he's put out so much music.
My personal Gizz road map was getting into the microtonal stuff on Flying Microtonal Banana, then their thrash album Into the Rats Nest totally blew me away and got me obsessed. Right now my favorites are the metal album PDA, and the new album Flight b741. Been listening to Float Along Fill Your Lungs lately too. It's almost like you can pick your favorite genre and they probably have an album in that style, then go from there.
@Mizmazzle that's awesome, hoping I get some of the techno table at the shows we go to. The Silver Cord songs live are great.
-
@TENDREL yeah man. Osees must have read my mind because they played all my favorite songs. Dwyer, as you mentioned, is so freaking prolific…I was so stoked to hear so many from the Orc album and Smote Reverser, Mutilator Defeated at Last…juts so many incredible songs. My ears have never rang in quite the way they did leaving that show. Haha. Like crickets going off in my brain.
Infest the Rats Nest is my fave Gizz album by far. They nail thrash so perfectly.
-
@Mizmazzle damn that sounds awesome, need to see them. Still been listening to Intercepted Message a lot.
@Matt its a weird band/fanbase so it works

Thanks to a heads up from @Mizmazzle just grabbed tickets for 3 nights of Gizz at an Ancient Amphitheatre in Bulgaria next June!
Plovdiv and the surrounding area looks so beautiful, I love spontaneous bookings like this haha ...
