I stand corrected: a lot of people are getting f#cked ;b

How do you find the quality of RRL stuff @EastWest ? I had an RRL deck jacket a while back and it looked stunning but the quality was beyond awful, literally Primark standard.
-
Hard to say this early in wear for me @Megatron1505 , the material is a lightweight-ish duck but they are tacked in all the stress area's. Got them at a 3rd of the retail price and loved the cinch back chino style so thought I'd give them a whirl. Time will tell but like you have found there is very mixed feedback on RRL on SF, think it definitely depends on the item.
Would look for Japanese/ US/ UK made alternatives long before RRL if paying full price as I imagine you and most here would. Some of their styling is great though.

For those looking for some older RRL pieces, I have two pairs of Officer chinos for sale for cheap. Look amazing, feel amazing, just too small for me. http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=8180.new#new

Re: sanforised jacket RRL
I picked up this Type 1 jacket a year or two ago from the RRL Soho store. It’s a nice Japanese raw denim, clearly labeled as being sanforised.MSRP. was $690.00.
My buying experience was mixed if I’m honest.
The jacket was the only one on display,a Medium size.with only the price tag present.
I asked the sales rep if it was sanforised,to which he replied “what do you mean”?
After further investigation someone else was able to confirm it was, however he wasn’t sure that the jacket was for sale as another employee was considering buying it !
I found this to be rude and unprofessional.
The employee confirmed that he was going to buy it,so I thought I was shit out of luck.
Further enquiries found another one in California, which they shipped to my home.
The fit was loose and boxy enough to accommodate a hooded sweatshirt underneath, but the arms were somewhat long.I was considering getting the sleeves shortened, but before I bit the bullet,I chose to give it a hot wash “just in case”
Well, would you believe it,it shrunk.Actually it shrunk about an inch in sleeve length, which was exactly what I wanted. However the rest of the jacket also shrunk relatively,to the point that it’s too tight to use a sweatshirt.
Otherwise with a tee shirt it’s ideal.
So just a word caution really, and a slight bad taste I was left with at RRL.

How hot did you wash? Cool jacket btw! In my experience washing above 40 celcius is causing shrinkage even when it’s sanforized
-
No idea of the actual temperature, sorry.Just put it in the Hot setting on my home machine.

The criticism of RRL pricing is valid. However, the RRL stuff is very well made and stylish. I own several RRL shirts and I get more compliments on those shirts than any other company in my wardrobe. The main criticism I have with RRL is that their sizing is all over the place and their website is not very helpful with sizing because they just use the generic measurements and a lot of their garments are unique in size making those generic measurements useless. I had this happen with a hoodie recently. I have other RRL hoodies and I'm an XL, upon receiving the hoodie it was obvious that this was not a garment that matched the measurements of their other hoodies. On the plus side the RRL website has incredible sales where you can pick up some really nice pieces for 50% off...or more. I don't own any RRL denim so can't comment on that.

@edgarallanpoe Exactly. They have more sales than a furniture store. Their southwest styling is dead-on usually, but when you go back to the basics, the quality is a little bit wonky, whereas IH is stronger. RRL specializes in pre-distressing, too, if that's your thing.
-
@indigostiff no question that IH is better quality.
-
@Matt not all their stuff is made in China, the line is composed of stuff made from all over the place. IIRC their jeans are made in the US.
-
I don’t always discount brands for having Chinese made products or for having outrageous mark ups. RL has been doing what they do forever so I can’t argue with their place in the market. That’s business after all. Besides, there are plenty of smaller brands in China that are doing it right and suffer from the stigma.
Personally, I like IH better.

US made of Japanese denim.
RRL STRAIGHT FIT SELVEDGE JEAN - EAST/WEST RINSE WASH -
I had my tailor bring the legs in to slim fit for $40, IAW IH 666s - much better.

I find RRL to be variable. I've got a lovely packable helmet / tote bag that's made of a thick nylon. But I took a look at the Falcon backpack last week and thought that the fabric felt flimsy for something that's got quite a large price tag.
I could get something like a USA made Filson rucksack for the same price. It might not be as pretty, but it'd have a similar aesthetic and last a lot longer.
