Catch of the day [Fishing]

Hi I treated myself to a new light/ultralight 2-10 gram spinning rod for Christmas and caught my first January bass in the harbour. Caught on 3 gram jig head with a Berkley gulp worm 6lb braid 5lb flouro leader and a slow retrieved. This year I’m going going smaller and lighter in a hope to catch more fish.

@Gammaman beautiful
Is that shimano soare rod perhaps? I think I have the same reel. Bought myself a christmas present aswell. Super shallow spare spool and a heftier knob. Not a huge fan of ultra thin knob of 2000 vanquish. Going to be a long long winter before I get to use these

Oh, we're talking new tackle are we. Just bought one of these (in Japan for about 1/2 western price), the S86XX Longcast.
I am absolutely fascinated with the RG Guide System, and can't wait to give it a go...

Do you ever use an umbrella rig @Giles ? reminds me your soft plastics above.
This is a slightly modified one by Live Target. I can throw it with a bit lighter line. It's still got just the one hook but replicates a small school of fish.

That looks great. But if I am fishing softies in UK for Bass (Sea), I need to fish weedless. I tried one of the Bass Candies last Sunday, and lost it 3rd cast
And for what I fish for in The tropics, that would get utterly pulverised
All the Bertox softies have XXX strong hooks (Owners or BKK). The amount of drag I have to use will likely straighten anything less....
I am super intrigued though....Thanks for the heads up....

for weedless plastics i really like this Ikecon worm. the hook protectors work really well to pull through weeds. You do need to make sure you have a swivel on though as they spin on retrieve.

they don't show it on the photos, but they come with mono sticking out so you can just snap onto a swivel hook.
