IHM-44-BRN - 17oz Duck Type L-2B Flight Jacket - Brown
First issued to US Air Force pilots in the early 1950s, the Type L-2B flight jacket was originally designed as a lightweight alternative to the bulky MA-1. By stripping away non-essential pockets and heavy insulation, the L-2B was much sleeker than its predecessors, offering pilots enhanced comfort and manoeuvrability while in the cockpit. However, like many military surplus designs, this now iconic jacket was quickly embraced by the American youth subcultures of the 1960s, permeating pop culture where it remains a staple of rebel fashion to this day.
Inspired by those original jackets, this take on the L2-B combines traditional materials and design features with one of our toughest fabrics. Constructed from 17oz cotton duck canvas, the outer shell is incredibly hardwearing, with comfort and warmth provided by a lightly padded diamond quilt liner. Finished with tubular knitted elasticated collar, cuffs and hem, a heavy-duty 2-way zipper and an interior ‘gun’ pocket - the resulting jacket pays unique homage to a military classic, offering timeless style and rugged durability.

That's going to go absolutely -perfectly- with new denim!

Great jacket, but I just don’t like this kind of zippers

Great jacket, but I just don’t like this kind of zippers
Brass zip and natural leather pull tab would've made this a must have for me.
Like you said though, no shade on the product, just personal preference isn't it!

@T4920
for me it’s just no need for a two way zipper. never understood for what this really is good for in normal life -
@Daniel-San I like the two way, it allows me loosen up the opening of my work jacket when sitting down and not have it bunch up around my stomach
-
ok that’s a point
-
I love the 2 way zipper especially if I am out bar hopping, the more drinks the more the bottom zipper comes up I have noticed.
-
Love this one, easily my favourite from F/W 24.
( @T4920 Changing the pull tabs to natural leather would be very simple)
-
@Daniel-San I like two ways because when I sit in the car to ride to work in winter it's easier to close the jacket fast before getting out and still not run hot or feel super restricted. But when I read your post I had exactly the same thought as @T4920 regarding the colour of the zipper.
-
@Alex 100% agree on this. It's one of the many fine details that I love.
-
@Daniel-San as a chubby guy, I like a two way zipper so the waist doesn’t get all stretch out over time.
Personally I like the black zipper. It’s more subtle looks wise. Also the polish helps it zip smooth, as opposed to brass can sometime be gummy to zip.

@Danimal506 there is zipper wax it really works well and probably only need it once a season
-
@clutchdealer Oh really? Didn’t know that existed. Do you know the name? (Not to go off topic too much here)
-
@Danimal506 I used both graphite and silicone spray with good results. When using something out of a can, beware of overspray.
-
@Danimal506 it’s called zipper lubricant wax I bought it on Amazon. I used it on a mister freedom N1 jacket I bought sometime ago and it worked great. I have used it on my IH N1 and works great.
