@sophisto000 nailed it! In Long Beach. Thanks for the rec. We’re keeping it ultra local on this one. We have a spot a block off 2nd street and 3 blocks from the beach.
️ Not going to drive for the next several days and I’m stoked about that!
-
Let me know if you want anymore recs, but you’ve got plenty of spots on 2nd St.
Here’s an unsolicited one that walkable for you, although I haven’t been here myself, I hear it’s pretty awesome:
Metal themed burger joint located at the famously named “Horny Corner” section of the bay… -

it's a bit commercialized i guess these days, but i always enjoyed getting a beer and sitting outside at ballast point there in long beach.
also sad that beachwood bbq in seal beach closed a long time ago. was a favorite on business trips for all the crazy beers they had on tap.

I have only seen a couple of Slayer songs live (left their stage to watch Tool). Slayer are now playing a show in London the day after the Sabbath gig and the date clashes with Silverstone. Decisions decisions.
-
@sophisto000 walked past this spot this morning on the way to breakfast! Thanks brother man. I’ll keep this one in mind.

@Bridger everyone should see Slayer at least once in their lives. A metal heads Beatles.
True. However, I would prefer to see them with Ringo Lombardo
-
Yeah didn’t they do Dave dirty? That leaves a bad taste in my mouth
-
Band politics eh!

Really starting to get into this bottle of Blue Spot Irish Whiskey. The nose reminded me of the Rick houses when I did the Bourbon Trail. Not surprising as it’s been aged in Bourbon barrels for around 7 years, which is kind of a sweet spot for me. The taste is more of like a traditional Irish Whiskey, and I haven’t been able to put my finger on the wonderful finish. Not as much heat as I would have expected from a cask strength 116.8 proof. As much as I’m enjoying sipping it neat, I hated it with ice. Of all the Spot Whiskeys this is one of the more difficult to obtain. I was quite surprised when I saw it a few days before St. Patrick’s Day at MSRP of $122 Astor Liquors in NYC is selling it for $189. It was meant to be.

A band I was in back in the day opened up for Slayer on their "South Of Heaven" tour at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver. It was nuts.
-
@Nostradamion damn!! I just had to look up that venue. So many incredible bands played there according to Wikipedia. That’s actually only a few miles from my house now.
They were probably at their wildest during that album/ tour. Young and crazy and nearing the height of their success.
-
@Mizmazzle Yeah, it was pretty crazy; the pit was nuts. We also opened up for a band there called MOD who featured Billy Milano; that was also a great show. Saw sooooo may amazing bands there, including Metallica on the "Ride The Lightning" tour with Cliff Burton. His hair was so long, it was whipping me in the face while he was headbanging!!
