Belt over the patch or under the patch? Which do you prefer and why?

I’m with @xtcclassic on the lighter weight Jean patches, even a mildly thicker one would really tempt me. In terms of belt, always, always under the patch, the patches are a signature element of the heavier weight jeans that I’ve no issue displaying.

Under. Seems like it would be uncomfortable wearing it over because the leather is so thick, and why on earth would anyone want to cover up these glorious patches? It makes me crazy that the 14oz and 16oz denim doesn’t use the thick leather patches, for that very reason.
Me too… definitely prefer the thicker open ones.

Haraki thinks that the heavyweight patches are inappropriate for the lighter weight denims….

I agree with him. That beautiful but massive patch would look weird on a lesser OZ weight.
He's got a good eye. -

I get it. Not entirely sure I agree, but I understand where he’s coming from. I do think that at least the 18oz should have the regular heavy patch.

if there's a hole it goes in, if not it goes over…

That’s how I look at it

I like the way the heavyweight patches turn a beautiful uniform honey brown when belt is worn underneath. My 555XHSib patch evolved super nice after a year and some months. Has now started to shrivel and shrink yet and I hope it never does. And when I wear my shirt tucked, I hope people be lookin' at dat ass to see my IH patch.
I would love to not have to moisturize everyday but I've got me a skin condition. I turn super flaky if I'm not greased up. @neph93 And I have to agree with you, bread making is badass…and smells good af when it's in the oven.

Under every chance I get. What's the point of appreciating a good patch if you hide it under a belt?
