This year is the seventieth anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms and the twentieth anniversary of its revival. Blancpain are
celebratingmilking it with a series of limited editions. This is the first, which is a 42 mm model, which is a new size, in steel. It's going to be released as three series of seventy, with each being sold in a particular geographical area. It looks pretty close to the fiftieth anniversary model.
Here's hoping that they do something cooler as well, such as the Barakuda or Seventies.

Date is fine by me but that text belongs somewhere else…

I like the date there, it preserves the lovely lumed digits and is subtle enough not to bother me.
Probably better still without a date, especially on this smaller dial, but if they must include one, I think that's the right way to do it.
It would be nice to offer this smaller size more broadly than they are and replace the anniversary text with the depth rating.

The Seventieth Anniversary model is basically a remake of the Fiftieth Anniversary model, down to the text on the dial. You can't see it in this photo, but there's a date window at 4:30.
I found an article about the Fiftieth Anniversary which has more photos. The only real difference with the new one is that it's got a solid back.

New member here, good to see a watch thread!!
Some of mine. Big fan of the 6538 Sub so was pleased to see Tudor release an homage. The Hamilton is also such incredible value and one of the ones I wear most often.
And yep, right wrist. If It's good enough for Steve McQueen…

@goosehd - Thanks, much appreciated.
The Speedmaster doesn't get much wear due to my dainty wrists. Another reason to love Tudor for making new watches with 'old-school' dimensions.
Coveting that new Explorer style Black Bay Pro they released late last year.

I love a good watch thread. Getting into watches can get you into some trouble quickly though! I recently picked up the Pelagos 39 and a Hamilton Khaki Field to add to the ever-growing collection.

I love that 39. Had I not bought the FXD this year I would’ve been on the hunt for one.

Not seen the 39 in the flesh. Looks beautiful! Mind you, not seen the FXD in the flesh yet either!

That pelagos looks great! I've been wearing my Omega PO 2500 but considering getting on the list for a plain Rolex Sub no date now that the market has cooled.

Yes, the no date Sub is hard to beat. People love to hate on Rolex, but their feature set is rarely beaten. The Sub is nothing special until you look at the dimensions and quality of the bezel. The Explorer II is similarly unmatched in this case height (GS is getting close). And, no, I don't own any…

thankfully for my bank balance I’m watch-illiterate, but that Tudor (Pelagos 39?) is very nice indeed.

Thanks! It’s titanium so pretty light as well compared to steel.
