Can a designated "420" thread possibly be on the horizon?
It’s been discussed before behind the scenes and the answer at the time was no.
Reasoning is that there are so many places/countries where it’s illegal, that it may be pushing boundaries, and the penalties for open use/growing/etc. can be quite severe.
You can also get into peoples personal beliefs on the subject which is where approval is not unanimous.
To make it fair for all users that use the forum, it’s easier to say no.
As the last time it was discussed was a couple of years ago, I can check and see if this needs or should be revisited.

People who don’t drink don’t read the booze thread. People who don’t bathe don’t read the hygiene thread. If ze Germans can legalize it so can the Forum, right?
I was trying to figure out how to say exactly what you just, so eloquently ,said.

I posted this in a chat to a friend and thought I would share here:
I for one don’t mind…
Personally I think that alcohol has caused way more problems in society than pot ever has, but not everyone shares those beliefs.
I even looked down on it being a kid of the 80’s where they pushed Nancy Reagan's Dare program on us yearly.
It wasn’t until I got wiser that I realized how much harm it’s done to people by incarceration and ripping families apart due to the laws.
I’m glad to see it being legalized and hope at some point all of those convictions can be overturned.
Sadly all of those laws have still done irreparable damage to a lot of people.

I really struggle to comprehend nanny state interventions around personal freedoms that don’t impact other individuals. As I’ve said here, and I know it’s controversial, and maybe too political, but I don’t think any mind altering substances that aren’t deadly should be criminalized. Let the burden of proof rest with the prohibitionists instead of jumping to prohibition as we so often do. If a substance has an LD50 that makes it dangerous (like fentanyl), it can be treated as a poison. Otherwise, hands off.
This unquestionably would improve the world a great deal but I won’t get into those details.
