Mister Freedom Le Marin T-Shirts & Drift Magazine - Tokyo
We've been eagerly anticipating the arrival of these Mister Freedom t-shirts since we saw them at the Toyo expo in Tokyo in the fall. These are made of a 100% cotton jersey knit fabric which was designed by Mister Freedom and woven in Japan. This fabric was a labor of love for Mister Freedom, weaving this particular style of fabric isn't common and is quite pricey. Price and difficulty of production isn't something that deters these guys easily, hence why we have beautiful t-shirts such as the Le Marin.
Along with these tees we've received volume two of Drift Magazine, this one focusing on Tokyo. Drift takes you through Tokyo's coffee culture, from canned coffee vending machines to third wave roasters, and everything in between. This is the first English language publication doing such a comprehensive feature on Tokyo's coffee scene and is essential reading for coffee or Tokyo lovers.

The Imperial SE23BSP Slim Tapered Jean
Imperial is one of the few brands we were carrying when we opened the doors to the first Self Edge in 2006. After all these years we've seen them stay true to their signature styles, we've done a few collaborative projects with them, and a few years ago they even shifted production from Australia to Japan.
With this new SE23BSP jean we've worked with Imperial to produce a loosely woven unsanforized 15.5oz Japanese selvedge denim made by small mill in Kojima. The mill was instructed to pay extra attention to keeping the core of the rope-dyed weft yarns super white, so only the outer edge of the yarn is dyed with the indigo bath. This super white-core yarn combined with the abrasive nature of this fabric will lead to some serious Boss Level fades. This fabric is available now at all Self Edges stores in a new slim tapered fit.

Stopped by self edge nyc today while I was in the city. And as usually happens there, they were sold out of all the gear I liked

Inventory must be a very real pain point across stores, 4x the problem of single location stores!
Anyway, back in NYC in seven weeks and can't wait to try on some 8301S's and see what's new, esp those Mr Freedom stripe tees!

Was told some new 633 denim is coming in 5 days or so. In double indigo I believe.

Strike Gold Indigo-Dyed Polo Shirts, Shorts, & Jean Restocks
If you want to wear polo shirts and shorts during the summer while still wearing in something indigo-dyed Strike Gold has you covered. They've released a set of pure indigo rope-dyed pieces, a polo shirt and a pair of super comfortable shorts. They've produced the polo especially for Self Edge without any outer branding. Both come pre-rinsed so shrinkage is minimal once washed and over time they'll lighten in color wear with wear.
Both these pieces are available now along with a full restock of all eight Strike Gold jean models at all Self Edge stores.

Has anyone tried on the SE Dehen Cardigan? If so can you post your thoughts please? Thanks

Hey! While I can't claim to be an impartial source, I have a fair amount of experience wearing it! Let me know what you'd like to know specifically, but:
The wool used for the sweater is a burly 100% wool 4 end weave, as is standard for heavyweight knitwear from Dehen. Like all but the softest wool, when it is brand new, it can be slightly itchy on bare skin, but that subsides with some wear, plus it's likely you'll be wearing long sleeves under it most of the time anyways, because it is definitely a cold weather sweater. As far as fit, this sweater is definitely roomier in the body than a lot of tops at Self Edge…if you're looking for an ultra tailored fit in a cardigan, you'll need a prodigious gut for this to work for you! Some people consider the length on this to be ultra short, but it reminds me of the cropped, but still very natural length on vintage sweatshirts...this allows for it to be layered under a jacket without sticking too far out. I've got the large and it just peaks out of the bottom of my sz 40 Sonny's Vest.
Pocket placement was chosen with those who use lots of pockets in mind. The internal phone sized pocket is handy, and the melton wool lining on the hand pockets will be more durable than the stock Dehen lining if you carry things in your hand pockets. The hidden elbow patches seem like they'll really do their job extending the natural life of the garment before repair is needed! -
Bam! Strike Gold polo inbound. The hot summer is killing me this year.

Would love to get one. I think chest sizing would be an issue. Fit pic summ3rhays in SG thread please.

The Roy "Big Bro" Baja Red Chambray Short Sleeve
Roy is back with his first shirt in over a year. The "Big Bro" Baja shirt is a red selvedge Japanese chambray done up in a simple short sleeved shirt with small details here and there, as you would expect a shirt made by Roy Slaper. The fabric is a medium weight chambray that has a small pattern to the weave which becomes more apparent after the first wash.
One of the details we personally love is the busted selvedge seam up the back of the shirt, over time you'll have jean-like train tracks running up your back. Also, Roy has this wild machine that's able to do a stitch that melts our minds, it's meant to be an invisible hemming machine but to us it looks like a crazy fabric perforator. He's used this machine to hem the front placket of the shirt which also hides the button backs from your body when the shirt is worn. Also, the gussetted side seams are done up with a selvedge ID accent.
This Roy shirt will be released at noon (local time) on Saturday August 1st at all four Self Edge stores. It will also be released at 9am (PDT) on the same day via our online store.

Iron Heart 633s-II Indigo/Indigo Straight Tapered Jeans, Overdyed Snap Shirt, & Socks!
The 633s fit from Iron Heart has turned into one of our best selling jeans at Self Edge, it's a perfect straight leg jean with a heavy taper for a small let opening. We now offer the 633s fit in a new indigo warp and indigo weft 18oz denim which has been stitched together using tonal thread for a sleek dark indigo jean. These will age in a wild way considering what some of the indigo/indigo jeans we've seen in the past from Iron Heart look like after some months of wear.
Iron Heart excels at shirts which are made to be funcational and last a lifetime, they've come through as expected with a great new overdyed denim shirt with hand pockets. This is a 17oz indigo denim which has been garment dyed black, over time the black will wear off and reveal the indigo fabric underneath.
Along with the new 633s-II jean and the overdyed denim shirt we've received their heavy duty gray/black socks in a regular length, great for wearing with workboots.

Sugar Cane's Unsanforized Type II Denim Jacket
We've always loved Sugar Cane's version of the classic 1950's style Type II denim jacket. They've gotten the denim feel right, the stitching is perfect, the iron buttons are classicly reproduced, and deer skin patch ages just as well as the denim itself. Normally this jacket is available only in a one-wash version. If you want an unsanforized denim jacket to age well over time we recommend buying a raw non-wash version. The industrial washing and drying softens the denim to the point where aging over time will be less defined (this is even more true on a denim jacket where wear is harder to come by), therefore we recommend doing the water soak of the jacket at home. Sugar Cane has made a batch of these jackets exclusively for Self Edge in a non-wash raw version. We've also dropped the price nearly in half since the last time we stocked this jacket years ago.
Along with the Type II jacket we've received a full restock of all Sugar Cane jean models, cowhide leather belts, and Whitesville tees (tees are in-store only).
