@flannel-slut haha, thanks. Have to admit, the sunlight exaggerates the wear somewhat.
I would say the overdye wears off on these a bit easily as well. these ones are about 1.5 years old but I have some overdyed latigo engineers that after about 4 years haven't given up any of the overdye. I think I prefer the slower ageing.

I sort of slid in here quietly. This seems like a great forum and a friendly bunch.
Hoping to learn more from everyone here.

My first Iron Rangers lasted 8 years, second 4, third 2 years with numerous resoles. My cobbler confirmed that quality has been deteriorating and some new boots now look like factory seconds.
I was ready to pull the trigger on some custom Wesco's when a local recommended Grant Stone. Went with the waxed commander. https://www.grantstoneshoes.com/products/diesel-boot-natural-waxed-commander
Quality is two ticks better than IR, one tick better than Alden Indy's. Very pleased after 130 miles through winter and spring. These come with a vibram lugged sole that is a bit more rugged than IR with suits me using them almost exclusively in the woods in mud and snow.
PS: I am quite hard on my boots so the experience of the city dwellers with IRs could be much better.
