black tea core Y2 engineers breaking in awesome

These Pachena Bays are finally, truly broken in. 30 miles hiking on this last trip. They did great. Realized they do much better with thick socks vs. thinner socks like I’d normally hike it. The one feature that can be improved is the Thinsulate layer. It’s not nearly as waterproof as a GoreTex liner. My feet got soggy after all day hiking in the rain and deep marshy terrain. Overall, I am impressed with their ruggedness.

Admittedly, I've not had great experience with engineer boots. I decided to give these a go and thrilled with them. It really is all about the fit. John Lofgren in Shinki. The sizing advice of 1/2 down from Brannock worked for me.

These are one of my very favorite pairs. Handmade by one guy named Adam in Minnesota. They are a veg retain with custom thin midsole(office work so little break in) and a green Vibram vbar half sole. Hand stitched welt... His IG is Open Road Custom Boots

These arrived in the post today. Will write more about them shortly, but so far very impressed!

Just got these franks boots type 2 highlanders in today. They are 8 inch in whickett and craig olive harness leather with antique hardware. I went with the white x v100 sole they are supposed to be softer than the regular v100 and good in cold conditions.

just ordered a pair of Clinch engineer boots @Kentaurus , absolutely grail pieces for every boots enthusiast. Hope to receive them by end of the week and pray they fit and work with my insoles
thx to Stefan from Kentaurus
someone out there having Clinch in rotation? -
@pmadison95 Fantastic color on these - how have you liked the x v100 sole (realize it likely hasn't been too cold just yet)?
-
@inosaris Thanks I really dig the color too they are something different without being to loud. I like the v100 sole in general all my work boots use this style sole. I have noticed the white x sole is a little softer under foot. So it is slightly comfier than a normal v100 but it will probably wears faster. I have the red x sole an another pair of boots that is fire rated and the standard v100 on a couple pairs of boots. The down side is the sole tends to get rocks stuck in it. The provide great traction on uneven terrain but if they get wet and you walk on tile they don't have as good of traction. I am curious if the traction is better in wet conditions on smooth surfaces with the white x sole. As far as styling it is chunky and hard to dress up too much. It works great in rugged casual or work applications.

Thanks, that’s great insight - awesome pair, definitely has some nice chunk.
