I"ve had 2 Harley's over the last 12 years, rode them as hard as I could, and never a single problem. I must be doing something wrong. Did you know that 90% of all Harley's are still on the road today-The other 10% made it home. Doh!!! @Sam -So sorry to hear you sold the 48,it was a really cool bike.

I've been doing more research and it seems the error codes were likely from a poor electrical connection or bad battery, so nothing terminal (pun not intended). I haven't had a chance to ride a Roadster yet, but that's the other Harley on the list. The Triumph Bobber is another interesting proposition, which should be on sale soon. I sat on one at Moto Expo and it felt pretty comfortable.

there's always the fireblade sp2

I'm thinking of adding the R nine T to the garage. My local dealership has a couple 2016's and they took 2k off the price. I'd prefer the 17 with the adjustable front suspension, but the price savings would be sweet. I've always wanted an airhead.
The Roland Sands brown seat would be a must.

@Sam the new Fireblade looks really nice. There are also rumours of a "cheaper" Honda V4 sportbike for next year, but it's going to cost an awful low. I've heard £40K or £50K floated.
@summ3rhays a number of R nineT riders have upgraded their bikes using the Wilbers forks and shocks. There are a few threads on forums about it, if you want to go digging.
If I was buying a bike to upgrade, I'd compare the cost of getting a 2016 R nineT with the upcoming Racer. I think that it might work out slightly cheaper, and I know you're a fan of the old Ducati Sports Classic…

@Sam the BMW Motorrad page for the Racer says it's £10,775. However, you need to budget another £920 for the pornographic polished aluminium tank.
The new range is released a week on Saturday in the UK. Bahnstormer in Alton will be your closest dealer, and they've got a good reputation…

It'd be rude to not to take a test ride @Sam.
I've seen the middle bike, but not the other two.
Rough Crafts built the Bavarian Fistfighter, which I believe ran at the Glemseck 101 sprints last year. That's probably my favourite R nine T to date.
And El Solitario built The Imposter, which is a bit more divisive…
Lastly, this isn't an R nine T, but the BMW Alpha popped up on BikeEXIF earlier, and is completely awesome, if somewhat impractical.
