Anyone ever order these custom Baker's Boots/Shoes by White's?
Seems like a slightly cheaper alternative to the regular White's. And with the Coupon Code "TWITTER" you can get an extra $12 off plus free shipping I believe. Is a machine stitch down sole so much worse than the hand sewn version?"White's quality and craftsmanship and at a lower price than the traditional smoke jumper because of machine stitch down saves from labor intensive hand sewn welt construction."
The collar is a bit weird but I think it would be comfortable.

I'm going to be ordering those oxfords with my next pay packet. Looks like a good summer shoe to me.

I can't see how these would be that much different then all those pretty Vibergs besides being about half the price. $288 shipped, I mean come on. That's quite a deal. A custom shoe/boot that can be 2-tone. They're about the same price as Red Wings.

I totally agree, Viberg quality for Red Wing price, it's a no brainer

It says they will be on the build a boot site soon. Will be cool to see these on there.

Exactly the same Chris.

Btw, i was talking about the edges of the cxl leather. Not the edge of midsoles.
.
This is also one of the reasons I liked the cxl

Ed, how much wear do your LW engineers have?
i'm suprised by your findings of their leather, LW have the name to be very high quality, but yours indeed look pretty worn down.
I have noticed the leather on my LW carpenters is very supple, much more than my White's f.i., and it also feels thinner. On a side note, i read your comment on the upcoming Lofgren engineers being made by the same company as the Lone Wolf, has this been confirmed, and if so, does Lofgren use the same CXL leather?
I read in a comment from John on the leather weight it was supposed to be around 2.5 oz, while most high end engineers seem to be made of heavier leather somewhere inbetween 5 and 9 oz.
But does this mean it's of a lesser quality…compare cxl to dress leather
cxl fucks up and breaks easily and gets old faster than dress/oil leather or any other leather from whites/horween
compay lw boot sin black cxl and sd in water buffalo/dress leather same age same wear same resoled by okuyama see to compare
ive to talk guys at whites and viberg and i get the same comments

ssup mich howdy man?
my lw engineers are worn really hard riding the bike and walking look at how they fucked up
the leathe ront he carpenter is diff from the engineers i like te leather on the carpenters more cause theyre japan made dry tanned leather which is top notch!cxl leather is NOT so great they look good when new but they get easily worn down.
as for the lofgren they look like theyre made by the same factory with LW youll know when you have seen alot of boots around.
hope john doesnt use CXL on those.
thinner leather is good but depedns on where the leather is from. and processed it. i suggest getting thicker leather for boots if you ride a bike

Unless the leather is something exceptionally strong, like ostrich or kangaroo, 2.5 oz is way too light for boots. Even then, it will have to be lined with something heavier so that the boot will hold its shape.
