White's Boots

ssup mich howdy man?
my lw engineers are worn really hard riding the bike and walking look at how they fucked up
the leathe ront he carpenter is diff from the engineers i like te leather on the carpenters more cause theyre japan made dry tanned leather which is top notch!cxl leather is NOT so great they look good when new but they get easily worn down.
as for the lofgren they look like theyre made by the same factory with LW youll know when you have seen alot of boots around.
hope john doesnt use CXL on those.
thinner leather is good but depedns on where the leather is from. and processed it. i suggest getting thicker leather for boots if you ride a bike

Unless the leather is something exceptionally strong, like ostrich or kangaroo, 2.5 oz is way too light for boots. Even then, it will have to be lined with something heavier so that the boot will hold its shape.

Everything going just dandy Ed!
Thanks for your answer, so the carpenters are not made of the same leather as the LW engineers… interesting.Maybe it was a typo on the weight of the Lofgren engineers, it's hard for me to imagine John doing any compromise on quality as he's very much focussed on vintage correctness and oldschool craftmanship and quality.
Or they will be lined...Is all CXL in general the same quality, or does it differ from one manufacturer ot the other?
To keep the talk also about White's in the White's topic, my SD have the thickest (and possibly heaviest, don't know) of all the boots i own, wish i had a pair of engineers made with this very same leather. -
My SD's have been delayed coming back from their resoling until next week, they had to order the soles in
I really miss my SD's

Riff, you have the best friends. Those boots look amazing
My SD's arrive back from resoling tomorrow, and I am captain excited

i seriously could not believe it.

I ordered mine a day after you Hec, the current build time from Whites is 6 - 8 weeks…..plenty of time before the twitching hour.

riff you must have some good karma going, great story & a not so bad looking pair of boots. that makes me think about not pampering my leather goods so much.
