White's Boots

Yeah their special make up looks great. The here are some nice images of the worn in waxed flesh. Seems like it takes awhile but once you have really beat them up they'll look amazing, with the nap coming out and the tea core shining through too. I have enquired about a rambler with horsehide.

I just got off the phone with DR, they called to double check my sizing. That’s nice. However, the sizing could be an issue. @hajduk @Nkwkfld @Chap dobuou guys mind providing some perspective?
My Red Wing 875s are 9.5 as were my Wesco Jobmasters. In sneakers I’m a 10 except for Nikes which I size up to 10.5 and Chuck Taylors where I size down to 9.5. How do you guys size?
Lauren said based in my preference for a roomy for she recommended a 9 (which they don’t have of course) but ultimately she thought 8.5 would be my perfect fit.

I am WB Smokejumpers 8.5 D and Wesco Jobmaster 9D. Which would be that half size down from Wesco to White's. However WB tends to be a bit inconsistent in sizing from my experience. If it works for you the arch support with White's is fantastic. If you have a low arch you might have a problem…

@Matt do you know your brannock size? Some (many in the Stitchdown Discord) argue that this standard method is the best way of having a benchmark. It's important to measure heel to toe and heel to ball as well as width using the sliders. Then for whites 55 people usually go a half size down and a width up. For example on brannock I measure 10 heel to toe and 10.5 heel to ball, at right between D and E width. My White's are a 10D and the fit is pretty spot on. Another bit of information I can parrot from the Stitchdown Discord, which is made up of people who are to boots what we are to Iron Heart here, is that Division Road's and many other heritage retailers incl. Red Wing give bad sizing advice to go much too small. The whole thing about boots stretching is a myth, and the better approach is that they should feel comfortable right away, and if they're a bit too big you can always fill up space with thicker socks or an insole. I would Brannock if you can, and if not go with that same 9.5 as your Wesco/RW. Remember also that the 55 last has a high classic work boot arch, so is going to spread your foot in a different way. I find it comfortable but definitely different from other boots.

DON'T LISTEN TO DR's SIZING ADVICE! They are notorious for sizing people too small.
White's 55 sizing, for me, equals Brannock - 0.5.I'm a size 11EE in White's and 11EE in Wesco MP95 FWIW.

I wasn’t convinced with their recommendation. I am however torn now because I have read and heard widely that Whites can run a little bigger than other boots. I wear a room 9.5D n RW and Wesco and my feeling is that the WB 9 would work. Not the 8.5 DR suggested. I measured my foot by tracing it as suggested n the Whites site and that said 9 as well. Maybe I’ll just get a 9 in my backup boot from the Whites site and go from there.
Thanks everyone.

@Matt I'd get the larger size and wear with thicker/thinner socks as needed. Not that I have any experience with White's but I think slightly larger is workable, whereas shoes that are too small are wasted $.

Fwiw i am a 9.5 (or 9 in thin socks) ir
9.5 875
9.5 wesco ih engineersFor whites my semi dress are 9 and my stevens dress (narrower front) are 9.5

Anyone have an opinion on Double Shot vs CXL? Those are the burgundy offerings in the 350 Cutter that I’m looking at. The DS version is stitcheddown but not by hand and is $575, the CXL is all by hand and is $700.
I love the idea of saving money, especially if there’s a Black Friday sale. I’ve also heard a lot of people don’t like CXL.
However, always err on the side of over engineering, as do we all.

@Nkwkfld i just found an abundance of info on my previous question on Stichdown. What a great site. Thanks for turning me onto it.
Ultimately I think the combo of price and shorter lead time will land me on the side of the Double Shot. I’ll just have to somehow convince myself that paying less is still ok.

Looking forward to pics of your pair @Matt all those options sound great

Baker's boots and White's usually do a very nice black friday sale, I think Baker's said it will go live this friday.

Thank you, I have my eye on both IG feeds already!
I tried on some Smokejumpers and I answered some questions, but raised some more…
The length of the 9 was perfect. The crazy high arch creates some issues. I like the feel of the arch placement on the 9.5. On the 9 it sits too far up and hits just in front of the outside of the arch. The guy at The Boot Barn said err on the side of longer so that the arch fits right. Now I’m still torn.

Have you put your foot on a brannock and measured heel to ball? Sometimes that measurement is different from heel to toe. Worth going with whichever is the longer measurement.
