The Flat Head
-
Flat Head workshirts are generally perfect on me (I have 7,all in size 42), except for the last one I bought, a black pin hickory from 2013ish, which seems quite a bit slimmer in the chest than the others.
-
@Surf:
Yeah, to be clear, that's how it is for me too. TFH shirts are too short in the body and arms for me. Consistently. The shoulders and chest are cut great, but they're just too short. I like the IH approach better, but could totally see wanting a slimmer body version.
Completely agree, as much as I love the Iron Heart shirts, and would love to buy one, the sizing is just too big for me in the chest even in the westerns. I've yet to pick up a Flat Head shirt but the sizing on 36s definitely seems to be closer to my shape.

I did work on translation/English stuff but my primary role was in sales, I took care of orders for places like Rivet and Hide, Pronto, and Self Edge.
I actually have some cool stuff on the way from Flat Head next week! A new pair of 20 oz. 2111 jeans and a beautiful new cordovan wallet I custom ordered.
-
That wallet looks amazing, I would really like to see closeups when it arrives.
-
You bet! These days I mostly carry around my wallet in my Voyej bag so I wanted something that was simple, classy, and which would have a slim profile in my bag. Although I won't be surprised if I end up using it in my back pocket some of the time.
-
I hope those jeans fit you well Kyle. It's only right that a flat head fanatic like yourself gets a pair of flat heads that fit!
-
@Cold Summer do you/have you done sales before? You have always read as very technically focused. Apologies for writing like I know you well. I've read years of your posts around the place (SuFu/reddit/here/etc)
-
Based on the measurements I've seen on SE and elsewhere I think these should be a good fit. They look similar to my 3009s but with a slimmer top thigh and longer inseam (the only issues I really had with those jeans.) I've already kinda committed to wearing my new 3Sixteens for this year's jeans, but once they're broken in I'll be concentrating on the 2111s.
Flat Head's the only sales gig I've done, Snowy. You're right though, I'm actually getting ready to go to a three-month intensive programming school to make a career switch. Given my affinity for languages, detail-oriented stuff, and enjoyment of very concrete sorts of work, I think it's the right move.
-
I think you'll excel at programming for sure! Up and coming language that all those I know are crazy about is Go. I write code in Python myself, but use it more of a means to an end, than a skilled and enjoyable developer. I do enjoy cranking out good code tho :). Best of luck, would love to hear from you in 6 months where you end up. Bet it'll be pretty amazing!

I really like the iron studded bracelet at Self edge but the price kills it for me. I found the white version online for cheap. Will it darken? It looks a little feminine I guess and wanted opinions.
-
I think it's pretty cool looking, but your right maybe a little feminine. I would bet you could get the beige leather to darken, but I don't think the white will.
-
-
@Anesthetist: I'm not really into studs or rhinestones, myself. I don't think they're feminine, per se. You do you. I think with the rest of your personal style, there's no chance of looking effeminate.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm still 50/50 so I'll let it simmer for a couple days to see if anything else catches my eye first. I think I could pull it off, especially if the leather darkens but we'll see.
-
IMHO I would give the iron studded bracelet the swerve but your Flat Head one is great… [emoji2]

Nice! Pretty light though huh? I was pretty surprised… Quite a bit of scratch!
-
Looks fantastic! Dead on fit. I've got a couple of The Strike Gold's loopwheel sweats and they're amazing. The Flat Heads look almost exactly the same. I dug mine so much I ended up buying three more.

Thanks guys. Yeah, the weight is certainly on the medium-to-light side, particularly when you consider the price. Still, I'm happy with the fit and the price will be worth it if it holds its shape over time. My experience with BR sweatshirts hasn't been that great, particularly with the collars and cuffs which have lost elasticity and shape very quickly. No one makes t-shirt collars like TFH so lets hope the same principle applies to their sweatshirts.
