Tricker's

I effin' love those!!!

Some better pictures as promised of my latest Trickers purchase, some long-wing style brogue shoes in coffee colour calf leather.
Really pleased with these and have been getting lots of use out of them, very versatile as you can dress them up or down as you choose. Always been a boot man prior to owning these but my opinion is shifting.
I like the small details with the shoes, stuff like receiving a cleaning cloth and individual shoe bags makes purchasing a pair of trickers special.

Finn, I hear you one that one. Since the purchase of the longwings the regular Moulton boots have been mothballed. I use the term "falling out of love with them" loosely but this has a lot to do with the reason to try and move the boots on.
Too many items of footwear in the collection already, I just can't do them all justice so some pairs get moved on every so often.

Replaced the leather sole with a vibram heavy lug.
-
Very nice, especially your granddad's pair.
-
Thank you.
They are pretty special. The only problem is, whereas the suede still seems in excellent condition, the leather sole seems very rigid and 'dried out'. I'd be interested to know if any one has found this on footwear of more advanced years? Maybe a trip to the Shoehealer is in order…

the leather soles on my veldtschoens were really dried out as well and probably would have started cracking had i not resoled them. by the logo in your grandfather's pair it looks like they may be around the same age.
-
I'm guessing 60's. The cobbler who resoled them guessed about the same.

So the vintage Trickers finally arrived back from the Shoehealer.
Opted for a red Dainite sole and heal as I thought it would be a bit of fun and also stand the test of time a bit better than a leather sole.
To be honest I'm a little underwhelmed. I had an idea of how it would turn out in my head and it isn't quite there…
I've done a pretty hopeless job of showing how the stitching isn't lined up with the previous holes in one of the pictures. Will try and show an improved view. This is a minor issue sure, but it's all about the details with these things!
On another note, I'm contemplating giving the suede some much need nourishing. Possibly a go over with a wax or dubbin, tell me if you think that is a silly idea by all means.
