Things that have changed my life in the last 12 months

actually it was nice to hear Beatle voice, nice.
+1…
and you don't even sound that "sächsisch" beats
-
love it beatle!!
-
love it too. Can't watch it with sound as I'm at work, but will do at home. You look very self-confident in front of the camera. I hate watching me on film
-
always thinking about IH stuffs last few days after join this forum and trying to manage money to buy these nasty crap LOL
-
Like Beats, I'm going to have to stretch back well beyond one year.

Year 2000. Got divorced after a 12 year marriage. He wasn't a bad guy but for me anyway, marriage sucks. I prefer to be a lone wolf but I got married young and once you've been with a basically decent person for over a decade, it's hard to break that inertia and split…marriage feels like an old, comfortable robe after awhile and you're afraid to peel it off. The last 11 years of singledom have definitely been the happiest of my life.

Year 2003. Moved to The Bay Area (Oakland) right out of grad school. Best decision I ever made for many reasons, career-wise, friends-wise, family-wise, weather-wise, everything-wise. Yes, The Bay Area is fucking expensive...but in my opinion, every penny worth it.

Year 2010. Getting fired from my startup high-tech job. Without going into details, this hands down has been the very best thing that has ever happened to me so far in my life. When suddenly you have huge expenses and no income coming in, let me tell you...this situation forces you to "think out of the box" and execute bold moves that you'd have never done otherwise. I found a new job quickly, and am thankful for that -- but having never been fired before ever -- this experience scared the shit out of me. I can only say that the next time I get fired (if...), I'll laugh about it and turn lemons into lemonade without batting an eye. Everyone should be so lucky to as to get canned at least once in their life….you'd be amazed at how much better off you are upon coming out of it -- red hot fire under your pants gets you to think, act and move in ways you never thought was possible.

the buying & selling thread has allowed me to get a few gems that otherwise would have been far out of reach for me. the very same thread has also allowed me to get some items out of my closet that just have been getting no love.
hoorah for buying & selling on the Iron Heart forum
-
1. moved to UK for my M.Sc, and i really hate this part…..really tough but inevitable
2. Started my own company, which is sadly dormant due to my absence. will revive it as soon as i got back home.
3. broke-up with my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years, well actually we planned to get married next year....but oh well
4. sworn my allegiance to iron heart jeans, and trying to break 1 jeans per year (september-august) -
Been a funny old year for me too . . .
Discovered IH - being very particular about my clothes (well everything really) - so basically stopped worrying about where to buy gear
Then discovered this forum - love it to bits . . . it really is full of great people
And the forum folks led me to the next junction in the road by sorting me out with my ditas suddenly there's a beautiful woman in my life . . . something that I've been really dying to do . . . so to speak
One scaffolding accident later and I get my own thread on the forum . . . something I have also been dying for
A few treatments later and the vultures (sorry colleagues) think it might be better for me to appreciate life more and not have to worry so much about work . . .
So all in all a bit of a crazy year
I think I am so much better off now
Thank you all

what do you think a comedian is monday? haha
-
It takes courage to write a post like that Monday so hats off to you and I hope you find what you want to do. I'm grateful for what I have and life is generally good to me but I am bored throughout much of my working day and need to move on to something else. I'm getting married and moving to a new country at the end of the year and have to see this as an opportunity to change career path. Only problem is, to what? :-\
-
hats off to you MM…I'll cross my fingers that things will turn out the way you want them to!
but knowing you (even if it's just the mad forum person!) I'm quite sure you'll make your way and reach your goals!as for myself:
I'm near to finally end my studies and hopefully become a bachelor of engineering with the focus on construction management. finally after almost 5 years of studying I can see light at the end of the tunnel and looking forward to working and making some "real" money.
during my internship in switzerland a few months ago I'm sure I'll be moving out of germany and into my new adoptive country by the end of the year...at least that's what is planned atm.
so I'm really looking forward to what 2012 still has planned for me...unplanned or not!
