The (Less intimidating) Watch Thread
-
@goosehd Dude it's a lot of fun! There's so many way to go. It's a rabbit hole. To get specific and overly detailed - I prefer a smaller watch, I have a 6 and 3/4 inch wrist and mostly wear 40mm and less watches. So I specifically wanted the ladies size casioak (which is still pretty large at 43mm) but feels better on my wrist. So I had to find a guy who could repaint both hands and indices as the female version has nasty silver or gold ones. This dude was the only person I could find that could do it. Like I said... Rabbit hole!

Here’s the Moonswatch I was talking about with the upgraded rubber strap… !
-
@Matt It's too bulky for my taste. Also the OEM white velcro will look nasty very quickly.

Thought you guys would dig this one -
Wolf Union Jack watch roll, a little bit of SBG… oh yeah and some watches
-
@Memphisakers ok ok!! I actually could use a watch roll. Maybe a box. Not quite sure. But I’ve got three watches and they just sort of hang out in my closet “unhoused.”

I LOVE Orient watches! They have been in the business for over 100 years. They make in house hacking/hand winding auto movements that are extremely accurate. Also have a lot of interchangeable parts with seiko such as crystals/hand sets for customizing.

@goosehd the Swatch Sistem51 watches sell for between $165 and $270, so sit at a similar price point to the MoonSwatch.
Are they overpriced? Probably. But that's also true for most Swiss watches.
Will I get one? Probably not. I suspect that others will make their own call based on price, brand equity, and whether they like the look of the watches.
It'll be interesting to see how these sell. I don't expect there to be the same frenzy as there was with the MoonSwatch. It's a more insider brand, and the price is quite a bit higher.

I think they will sell out instantly with resellers taking the glut of them.
-
@goosehd It's nice that they've used the automatic movement in this one, whether that's worth 150 extra bucks more than the Moonswatch I'm not sure...
I'm a little torn on this one. I think it's cool that BP gets some love and that'll help others find the brand. But the design of the watch doesn't get me super excited. Maybe the blue or white one will look good in the plastic...
