Nice looking shoes–-are those uppers suede or canvas? They look clean:)
-
Thanks Dino - they are canvas with a clear polyurethane coating over about 65% of the uppers.

@LewisStonehouse those are so awesome. I know they would be too narrow on me. But I had my eye on that same pair before. Very nice.

I might have to take a look at their site and see what they have..thanks @Appfaff

@Filthy cheers dude, I like them a lot but must admit they're not the comfiest for a long day of walking around

That's a shame.

@dinobarnesberlin - they sold out immediately on Converse and Nike, but boutiques still have some stock.
These guys have some larger sizes. I went true with my normal Chuck 70s sizing. https://sneakerpolitics.com/collections/converse/products/kim-jones-x-converse-chuck-70-natural-ivory

In 1996, my family had just moved to Greenville, South Carolina from Chesapeake, Virginia. While not a monumental geographical shift, the cultural shift from Virginia to the Carolinas was intense. I was in 3rd grade, and a few things reigned supreme in elementary school - Oversized "school uniform" khakis on the playground, and Basketball Shoes for Gym Class.
There was this kid in my 3rd grade class who's parents had won the Georgia Lottery, and he was the first kid I knew (We were a military family until our Move to SC when my dad went civilian) who had Air Maxes and his mom drove a BMW. Hot shit for a kid like me that grew up wearing knock-off chuck taylors from Lands End and shorts my mom had sewn herself to look like Big Dog and Gecko Skate Clothes.
I began playing basketball that year, and started getting really into other sports such as Atlanta Braves Baseball, especially since that was a Braves World Series year, and the Olympics were held in Atlanta..
As fate would have it, that lottery kid came to school in January after Christmas holiday with a pair of Air Jordan 12 "Taxi" - the white and black pair, and soon the Sports Authority, Dillards, and the Finish Line at the mall were full of Black and White and Red & Black versions of the Jordan 12. I remember asking my parents for pairs every-time we went to the store, but I remember they were still $80 for kids sizes at the time and that was like $65 more than my parents normal "TJ MAXX" or "ROSS" footwear budget.. so I never would get a pair.
Less than a year later, we moved to Texas, and well… Jordans and Basketball were not really a thing in my group.. It was football and baseball country, and I focused on skateboarding.
When I got back into collecting sneakers over the past few years, I could never bring myself to pay the resale prices for Jordan 12s, and honestly, never thought they would work for me (They probably still don't lol) but I was excited to finally snag a pair of 12s - although in a not very coveted or OG colorway.. The feeling of being a kid is still in tact, however

great story @Appfaff. I don't have as specific a story as yours, but i grew up envying every kid with Jordan's when my parents wouldn't allot that much for shoes.
After Air Jordan released the 11's, especially the concords and Bred's, their styling took a huge fall in most peoples opinion. I was lucky enough to have a buddy who managed a footlocker so for a long time I got to skip the line and have a pair set aside for me, but I was collecting Jordans (username ring a bell?) to play collect and keepaway more than I was to wear the shoes.
Many times I spent my last dollar on shoes (being fairly literal here).
all told i had about 100 pairs of Jordan's most new in the box, and really rare items worth much more today than what I sold them for. see these but deadstock https://www.ebay.com/itm/274738312331?hash=item3ff7adf48b:g:9eYAAOSwCbBgYhQC
Now i've sold em all "all them little gansters who you think helped mold em all, now you wanna run around talkin bout guns like i ain't got none…"

Classics right there dude! Are those modern, ‘77s or SBs?
Edit: just saw the toe - love the 77s

I believe they are just the 77's. My daughter has the same color in kids with white laces. I like them!
