I wore one in NYC in Jan when the temp was -14C (out of the wind), I was toasty…...
That's a wow

I have the first version of this jacket. It can easily pull you through -25 celsius. When weather hits under -20 celsius, this is my go-to jacket.
-
I would add that while it is blizzard ready, it can be worn comfortably in temperatures way above that without roasting.

Is the velcro on the sleeves white or tan (on the khaki version). The pic with Sam shows tan while the pic with Alex shows white.

I also have the first version of this jacket and can attest to the sheer warmth with it on. I would even go as far to say that if you're doing something physically active whilst wearing this jacket, it may be too warm to wear. Of course depending on how quickly your body creates heat, but shovelling snow or out on a brisk walk and I'm starting to get over-toasty!
I really like the khaki color, if I didn't already have the version 1 jacket that fits me like a glove, then I would have snatched up the khaki flavour!
@Giles, have you considered making a bottom/pants version with the same design ethos as the jacket? Perhaps an overall?

Had the luxury of trying this on in Hachioji yesterday. absolutely brilliant. i know i probably never will push it to it's limits but this is such a good jacket!

It really is, winds up looking pretty trim for a jacket of its technical ability.

i think kenta or someone from the hachioji store told me they wear it to go snowboarding.. the jealousy on my face was unmissable..
-
This jacket would be even greater for snowboarding if it had pit zip vents.

Just grabbed the last small and quite like it. The primary use aside from a warm winter jacket will be high altitude winter camping, and I wanted a jacket that will function but also look good. I'm curious about the fabric though. Pertex and eVent are competing brands, but both are stated. It appears to be eVent based on tags, but Pertex Shield is named in a few places. My impression is that IH switched from Pertex Shield to of of the event DV fabrics (my older IHJ-11, for example, has a Pertex Shield tag where this has the eVent waterproof tag). Am I misunderstanding something? Which specific eVent one is it this, btw?
