IHWE-MRLOU-BLK - Wesco® - 10" Horsehide Pull-On "Mister Lou" Engineer Boot - Black

@AdamJ It's not a huge deal, and if it were something I was really upset about, I would have reached out to you via email to discuss a remedy. The boots are great, and I'm sure once I get them broken-in, it won't even matter. As I mentioned above, it was more about not being mentally prepared for the difference between my expectations and what showed up.

@Ross has reached out to me and given me a few options, I feel very well taken care of at this point and have reassurances from both Iron Heart and Wesco. Excellent service as always!

Just got my pair today, so far so good gonna start to break this badboy today

Feeling a little pressure on my right instep (something that happens with every new pair of boots for me, due to my strangely high instep on my right foot), and I don't love removing the insoles, so I made some that are half as thick to use as "training insoles" until the boots are broken-in.
-
@seawolf ihave the same problem with you always tight on my right foot for any new boots. I just take out the sole and everything perfect:)

In the end I managed it and ordered a pair directly from Wesco. Too bad, I would have liked to buy the boots via IH (especially since Wesco charges horrendous shipping costs) so that I could have had them now and broken them in. At the next opportunity, I‘ll make sure in advance that there will be a restock also for my size.
Now I have to wait patiently (not my strong point), expected delivery date: Mid-October 2024…
Until then, I wish you all lots of fun with your new boots and look forward to seeing some pics here

@AtariHunter my friend I understand you, I gave up on many things just because I had to wait years to get them, I also wanted to order them directly from Wesco, (in my case in addition to shipping there was 30% customs duties and taxes to pay ) . So I looked on Ebay and found an American shop that had just stocked Stompers Boots and I bought them there, at an excellent price I must say.

Nicely done @seawolf with the training insoles
Had to send my Mister Lou’s back - too small (length)! Just waiting on a .5 size bigger to arrive. New to this boot so am nervous these will still be on the small side - fingers crossed all will be ok
@thooy05 how did you find the fit around the toes when fresh out of the box? Looking great

Thank you very much! Unfortunately I need a pair in size 7.5 E which isn‘t available anywhere…

@long_john86 it’s perfectly fine, abit big on my liking i should i get 5.size smaller
-
@seawolf nice work on your homemade insoles, and very beautiful tool for cutting leather! What is the tool called?
-
FWIW I have pull loops on my Lou's and almost never use them...TBH they feel a little flimsy for regular hard pulling...if used often, I could see that being the first point of failure on the boot. But that's totally conjecture of course.

@motojobobo Thanks! It’s called a round knife, and it’s very similar to another style of leather knife called a head knife. Both serve similar purposes, but this one is particularly special because not only can I use it for the traditional push-cut, it also has a sharpened edge that I can use for a pull-cut. A huge benefit to a knife like this is that you can cut through very thick leather quite easily and with surprising agility. I added a nice lanyard to it and wrap it around my thumb for a better grip.

Hey yall! First post on the forum here with my first pair of Wescos. On my fourth day straight since getting them and my big toes were hurting like HELL until common sense kicked in and I put on some thinner socks, fit is pretty much spot on now. They’re so sick and so beautiful, I’m slowly but surely getting over the initial reluctance to getting them worked but I can’t wait to see the evolution of these through the years. Here’s some pics with my 555s featuring their first, albeit minimal, scuff marks!
