thanks @Matt North face is in the realm of possibility. I have been eyeing the new Vectiv releases, and they are intriguing. REI outlet has been looked into (i should look again), as well as Backcountry, moosejaw, campsaver, public lands, etc. outdoor sites that probably all ship from the same warehouse.
I've also looked into Hoka, but i wish they would get rid of the giant frickin logo.

I 100% swear by Scarpa Mojitos, they are brilliant trail boots and the most comfortable footwear I have ever used:
I have just ordered a pair of these.

I use their Canyon Guides as my go-to wading boots, worn over neoprene booties and have been majorly impressed with them, so thought I'd give the hikers a go.

Plus, because I am a child, I smirk every time I see the name…...

Thanks @Paul9221 and @Jett129 I should have specified I'm looking for a low top. Paul I really like that Ridgeline low, I'm a sucker for a retro style.
I have a pair of Solomon X3 mid that i wear when hiking gets at all serious and they are perfect. but I balk at wearing them as a daily sneaker as they are a bit aggressive.
I hadn't hear of forsake Arthur, and those are cool options too.

I have a pair of these for use if I am going serious walking. Then I'm more interested in how many times I don't fall over, not the size of the logo

Edit: Now you throw low-top into the equation

Love my Danner 2650 good choice. Xero has good options too if you like more of a “barefoot” experience.

Thanks @Giles I have looked at Scarpa many times after seeing them on you. They end up at Sierra trading quite often (a discount outdoors store), along with Asolo brand which have a similar approach shoe aesthetic. Those Hoka hikers have a tonal logo so it's not as bad as the giant white logo. I'm just being a bitch about it anyhow, as my giant New Balance "N" on a lot of my shoes contradicts my gripe.
@68degreesorless thanks for the doubledown on the Danner. top of the list

Everyone's feet and gait are different, so the best advice IMO is to take what you've learned through your research and query here, and to go somewhere that carries the brands you like and try them on.
I would throw Oboz out of Boseman, MT into the mix. I have some hiking boots from them that are unmatched for hiking comfort for my feet. I would not even know about the brand if I hadn't gone to REI and tried on multiple options.
They carry them and a bunch of other great brands at REI, so personally I would go there or Schuler or similar, and go nuts until you find the one @jordanscollected

I’ve been wearing my pair for a long time.

If I didn't have a reflexive hatred of black shoes, I'd have bought a pair of these Naglev boots a long time ago, though i like the high tops better than the low.
Oh, yeah- I haven't tried their hiking boots, but I absolutely love Inov-8 trail running shoes (I've owned 6 pairs so far).

The Goruck guys have some trainers that I've been curious about:

Black shoes are the way.

On a different topic, is there any way to be notified of ALL upcoming restocks? Maybe a forum thread called "Restocks" in which the crew could post what will be restocked that week?
I ask because I just happened to notice that the IHSH-295-IB is going to restock tomorrow. I stopped following that thread because I wasn't able to pick one up before they sold out, but am interested in picking one up when they restock.
Sure, I could've gone to the store page and asked to be notified of a restock, but I think it might work better in a forum format, so that I can make sure I'm available, card-in-hand, for the restock

One idea, especially if the new platform supports tags, could be to tag restock posts and then have a dynamic forum topic that filters on that tag across product pages, or failing that, users could search on the tag (which I guess you kind of can do by the word "restock.")

I was thinking that I could script this, like looking for the word "restock" and alerting me if anything comes up in the last 24 hours. But if you search for the word "restock", you'll find a lot of posts by people asking if things will be restocked at some point. Very seldom is it the message from the crew.
But yes, if the future forum uses tags, something like this would be much simpler.

a reflexive hatred of black shoes
What's wrong with black shoes!
Personal preference; for no definable reason, I've just always hated black footwear- shoes, boots, even socks. I don't own any and I see no reason to ever change that. I fully concede that this is a me problem, not an everyone else problem.
-
Yeah that was my concern about a simple search versus a tag. It would be especially cool if only the crew could use it
-
@mclaincausey we're working on the new forum in the background and tags are a great idea for that, I've made several notes about improving how we handle restocks.
@Paul9221 As for a dedicated thread, I think it would be a bit of a minefield due to the frequency of restocks rolling in, many of which are not full size runs, and often odd sizes here and there. There is a nifty calendar function on the new forum which may be the solution to this, so you'll be able to glance upcoming restocks on your Monday forum browse

Thanks @AdamJ
Only have had a cursory look at the beta and I see a lot of things I dig. I look forward to doing a deeper dive as soon as time allows
