IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
^^Can't wait to see them washed!
Thanks for being a trail-blazer GHBK!… My pair is a few months behind this beauty, but I can see a hole forming in that exact same location: that inside crease under your bum on both sides near the crotch seam.
In addition to the Double-Knee jeans, anyone in support of a Double-Crotch jean? It's a shame to see such exquisite jeans succumb so quickly to something so predictable.
-
the stiffness/thickness of the denim is the problem - I'm not too sure two layers of the fabric would remedy the situation
-
Well it works for the loggers. Hypothetically, it would take twice as long to form a hole all the way through. And maybe by that time, the jeans will have been washed enough to limit the damage from stiffness.
Gotta do something. Its clearly the weakest point (other than the chain-stitched hems) on every single pair of jeans that I have. Buying another pair or having them patched can't be the best solution possible, especially not for the consumer.
Anyway, Wonderful pair of jawns GHBK16! Well done.

I actually used to do this with Dickies I rode my bike in. Buy pants, cut them into shorts just under the knee, sew the excess into the crotch so it wouldn't blow up immediately. Worked for quite a while however the 25oz material is an entire different beast. Would be interested to see if that would work. Could just end up feeling like a denim diaper, lol.
If double crotch jeans ever came out I'd surely be in for a pair to try it out. I have the same tear/hole on the upper crotch of the left leg in 3 months of wear.
-
I just figured it was the slim cut butt area and the tightness of the seat in the 666 that forced the wear. I can definitely feel that area getting the most stress when I go up and down stairs and stretch the legs out.
Maybe it's just Giles' failsafe to ensure we keep buying new pants every few months.
-
I finally washed my 666-XHS. They are a little softer, I think, and the crotch area is intact. Perhaps because I'm skinny…
I get the major stress in other points, like cuffs and inside the knees, that rub walking. In fact, I noticed a small hole near the hem. Perhaps these 25oz's are to be washed more often. -
I washed mine too.. They're nearly white in places. They got beat to crap in the washing machine since I didn't turn them inside out first. Oh well, it was going to happen sooner or later. I tried to get these pics as close to no bullshit as possible (at least on my monitor). The contrast is insane.

^ that pic represents everything great about IH imo,

Thats exactly what I think. The main is restrictive to the point, on me, where I can't raise my knees parallel to the floor and surely can't skate in them. I move my legs to a point then it just stops and I can feel it in the same area mentioned. From the pics folks posted in this thread I'm sure my body type leaves much less room in the main… especially the thigh.
dave - those jeans look amazing.
ps - I am literally the Burger King… no affiliation to the Bain Capital run fast food chain, lol.
-
Those look great, Dave. It's like they have come alive after a bit of contact with water.
I want to wash mine earlier than I would with other jeans purely to protect them so they last for life. I don't think I'd regret it looking at those. But not yet. -
I'm still going to wait with washing my pair, and still not enough sunlight for doing some 6 month shots. Bad weather sucks..
But at least i ordered my second pair of IH, 666-SOD it is. -
I tried hanging them with two (two!) wooden hangers with metal clasps - no dice… I tried hanging them outside on my rack - it fell over... It's one of them feckers with a heavy stone for a foot... I barely can move the fecking thing but the XHS'es didn't seem to take notice...
So I tossed them over a plastic rack inside an made sure there weren't any folds... And fuck me: I ain't turning them inside out again til they're dry either...
I hope they'll be dry by Tuesday...
