THIS BOOT WAS A PERFECT STORM OF OCCURENCES WHICH PROBABLY WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
I will give you guys one piece of advice: Do Not Contact Horween to get shells for Viberg Boots. It is the easiest way to anger Brett and end up on the Viberg Blacklist. I had contacted Nick about getting shells for a pair of boots that had been ruined by another maker and he took mercy on me. If Viberg wants to make you cordovan boots, they will obtain the cordovan. I liken it to bringing your fish into a sushi restaurant and asking the chef to make you the suchi that you like instead of what's on the menu. Its just a bad idea…all around
I was incredibly lucky to obtain shells as Nick Horween only sells shells to footwear companies and leathermakers with whom he has a longstanding relationship. I tried to get additional shells to make another boot in a more common color (black or #8) and the answer was a very solid and unwavering "No."
As for Viberg, I had ordered this boot almost 18 months ago when their official stance on both custom boots and cordovan boots was different than what it is now. Since ordering the boot, they have firmly stated that they will no longer make custom cordovn boots. I have asked and begged Morgan because of how beautiful and absolutely stunning these two pairs came out and I feel like if he saw me in the street, at this point, he would remove his boot and begin to beat me for extensive begging/grovelling for an identical boot in cordovan #8 (this is joke. Morgan is a great guy!)
I just wanted to share the boot to show how incredible Viberg craftmanship is and to reitterate that, although they hate doing it and refuse to work with cordovan most of the time, I prefer their cordovan boots to the other 12 pairs that I have from ll other makers.
Morgan, If you read this, I love you dearly and Thanks again for the boots.
Viberg - Horween Whiskey Shell Cordovan Service Boot.
I have to thank Nick Horween for getting these shells over to Viberg for me, but, more importantly, Morgan and Viberg for the hell that I put them through in getting these made. They are a masterpiece and I have nothing but thanks for the whole Viberg operation. The nicest pair of boots on the planet Earth….and they made me two pairs.
I'll add that Viberg probably will never make another custom cordovan boot, but that's my take and not their official release.
These guys are masters with shell, but they fail to see themselves in this light.

And the back pocket looks better on the first two.
First two had different buttons, no shell, no selvedge on the coin pocket and no hardware.?

Did you notice Banksy's balloon girl on the patch?

Best made jeans that I own. I heard that KOB should be taking orders soon, but not sure.
Look at the quality ! Denim feels similar to IH - 634S. 21 oz. Okayama family mill. Beautiful Stuff!
They also have 18, 16 and 14 oz. I'm still an Iron Heart guy, but on my other days, these are the ones.
They must have all of the machines that Roy has. Look at the shell stitching! The button-holes! The raised pocket tops! The interior stitching and pocket design.
I'm trying to get them over to the USA. We'll see where that goes. They're happy being small and I'm happy with Iron Heart, so who knows if it will happen??
Not sure if you guys were aware of these recent arrivals at Barney's.
Pretty nice 1950 Service Boots with Cap Toe in Black and Brown with Vibram Soles and Chukka Boots with Dainite Soles on Loren green and "aged bark" (whatever that is??).
The prices seem to be in line with Volls, Superdenim and other Viberg retailers.
Figured I would give all of the Viberg Fans a heads up. I happened to stumble onto these items as they weren't posted on the Viberg Blog.
Also, my brand new 1950 Service Boot w/ Danite Sole in Horween Walnut Cordovan is over in the buying/selling part of the forum if anybody wants to go the to look.

These are one of a kind UK 8 (7.5) Viberg Service a boots in Walnut Cordovan and they are way too small. For information on buying them, you can go to that forum.
Ordered these from a viberg. Wished that they had a larger toe box.mare there any Stockist who have current inventory. I'd love a service boot that fit,
I won't go through it here
If you go to the Viberg blog or you go to the Viberg Facebook page, you'll see a pair of Walnut Cordovan Service Boots. Brett was kind enough to sell these one if a kind boots to me. Horween gives Viberg very little Cordovan to play with and I'm sure that most of you know that only the absolute best shells get tanned into lighter colors like Ealnut and Whiskey (Alden).
Anyway, they look like the Leffot boots, but they are made in a cordovan that is 10 times as rare. They don't got me and I am trying to sell them. They have never been worn. They have only been on display at trade shows all around the world. If you're a Viberg size 8 and you really, really want these boots, shoot me a message.
They are only one pair of these beauties on this planet that we call Earth. I was incredibly bummed when they showed up and were too small.
Speaking of which, what size Viberg correlates to an Alden Barrie or Trubalance 9.
Giles, as an Iron Heart guy, I'd have to give you first swing at the pitch (it's an Americsn thing. Has nothing to do with a soccer field).
I'd post pictures of the 18 oz. but I haven't received them. I will post when (hopefully) they arrive.
The first two arrived in a DHL package from Japan (addressed in Japanese with the receiver name redacted) that was then placed in a FedEx box and sent from Hawaii to my address in California.
Oh, the crazy World of underground Denim!
Gotta love it!
I liked that too. I think the whole think is a satire on the Levi's lawsuits. They're great jeans, but hey're a bitch to order and I don't speak Japanese which makes it harder.
I think that they are like "The Denim Project". I tried to get a pair of the Denim Project "Devi's" at one point and couldn't figure out where to find them. I doubt that they have any presence in NY OR LA, but I could be wrong.
I think that the girl on the patch is Banksy's balloon girl. Just thought that I'd share some pics. Only have one pair of the 15 oz. and one pair of the 21 oz. been trying to get another pair unsuccessfully.
That being said, I have 12 pairs of Iron Hearts, 5 Samurais, 6 custom Rogue Territory, 2 Sugarcane, 2 ROY's, the Lee 23 oz., 4 Flatheads and 3 SDA's (black Pig, x-32 and x-29) and other than my Iron Hearts, these things are my new favourite. The fabric is beautiful and they have random craftsman touches like the shell stitch on the fly area selvedge in the pockets, etc.. If anybody else has any info, please provide. Also, if anybody has any info on "The Denim Project," let us know.
My blood bleeds Iron Heart, I love these little Japanese/Okayama micro-brands. Has anybody had luck recently ordering from Double Volante or O.O.e. Yofuketen (please excuse the spelling). Thanks
Other than Ironhearts, these are my favorites. I have them in 15, 18 and 21 oz denim. All come from a small mill in Kojima.Above are the 15 oz. Below are the 21 oz. They're similar to the denim project, but quality and features that I haven't seen in anything other than IH, ROY OR Double Volante.
