sounds like that was a timely question. Looking forward to seeing what you all are tinkering with; fingers crossed there are denim coozies in the sampling
There are about four different colors of this out there I think. In addition to the blue I think I've seen a black, khaki, and something that reminded me of orange sherbet.
What do you all do with off cuts from hemming if the customer doesn't want them?
Nothing at all other than a little dye. Now just need to decide a color...
Maybe I'll try something using an offcut from a pair of pants...
I think we're getting off track of the intent of this thread. You are free to disagree with me and how I was trying to make my original point about D width sizing in that it isnt the physical WIDTH that's drastically different in Wescos, but moreso the overall VOLUME that makes them fit "narrower". I did recognize your point in my original post and I compared to MANY brands of insoles not shown. Was it exhaustive, no? But it was good enough for me.
@Merv i literally took the insoles out of the shoes and compared them. This is way more a direct comparison between fit, and in this case the width, than going off brannock and how each brand might vary their lasts from that one measurement method.
In a pinch, I've had decent luck using the back side of the placket to give a small spot a brush, especially for things like a water stain.
It's not ideal now, but as you wear it more you'll find it blending in. Dont worry about it one bit, definitely not ruined. To me I go back to thinking about the brake fluid stains on louisbosco's pale Rider. This is much less drastic and that came out looking fine too imo.
Just don't wear it while painting
you'd think the IH crew would love this too with having a very clear statement about how these XHSMB have been ultra overdyed brutally, TWICE, and that no shrinkage will ever ever happen.
but who am i kidding? someone will still ask how much they'll shrink
I still havent given the 25oz madblacks any wear and I feel pretty sad about that but have been enjoying the 18oz so much this fall. My plan is to wear these until the 2nd week in November or so and then switch to something else for a big international trip. When we get back the madblacks will go on for at least a couple of months.
My take on the fabric is consistent with @popvulture 's description. It's got a really tough, dense, rugged feel to them a bit like how UHR is when new but at the thicker 25oz feel.
i think there was some discussion on this a year or so ago in the grooming and hygiene thread?
Right now the malin+goetz eucalyptus is working well for me. It is a 20$ hipster brand, but it seems to have lasted a good long while for me. It does good on odor control and not creating deodorant armpit stains. Maybe a mod can move this all there?
got quite the collection of flashlights
my favorites are, by far, the ones that have been developed by the enthusiast community on budgetlight forums and similar. Mostly these revolve around the toykeeper UI's but things like the Noctigon and Emisar lines like the Meteor 43 and D4V2. I also like the tiny single cell cr123 olights for throwing in a bag or something. Zebralight also makes some great flashlights. And not quite a flashlight, but also love the BLF Lantern.
It's been a few years since ive bought a light though so not sure what the new hot thing is, though in a quick search I see a lot of 21700 based lights compared to the 18650s which make up most of my collection.
@Oaktavia if you have any dye left you could try applying it to a conspicuous spot, maybe like inside a pocket or something. wonder if it would even take. But you probably made the safe call not dunking it.
I'd chip in to buy the indigo to make this happen. Could be an amazing tour...
so who's going to be the crazy one to buy a fresh pale rider and give it an indigo dunk?
those are pretty rad @Oaktavia
I think you also just saved yourself 600$ or whatever for the new ultra limited dip dyed indigo 1500's they're going to release soon
love how those shoe lace ends trapped the dye too
